Hostage of My Heart

Camey is a bounty hunter following in her parents’ footsteps. When her landlord, Erma, asks her to find her son to tell him that she’s dying, Camey can’t help but say yes. Camey takes a trip into the Pennsylvania Dutch Amish society where he’s been for the past 10 years. After retrieving Liam, Camey finds that he is a very likable man who has just been disowned by his Amish family for leaving to see his mother one last time. After Liam sees his mother, Camey finds out that Liam is wanted for the murder of his abusive stepfather and that she has just committed a crime by transporting him across state lines. Liam is able to placate her and a relationship blossoms. After Liam’s stepfather comes back from the dead to try and kill his ex-wife, Camey, Liam and Erma run to the Amish sanctuary to hide. While there, Camey comes to grips with being neglected by her parents and the fact that she remembered them as heroes, not as the careless parents they really were. Liam continues to try and convince her that he’s no murderer and that they should get married. While Camey is struggling emotionally, she’s also trying to figure out who’s stalking them and if Liam is telling the truth.

This was an interesting story that brought together an unlikely pairing of the Amish and bounty hunting. Ms. Ladley did a good job combining the stalwart Liam with the fiery Camey and making them a believable couple. When she added the mystery element, it made for a fun read. Ms. Ladley also used her descriptive talents to describe a gorgeous Pennsylvania area. She really made you see the green fields and blue skies. Thank you for an interesting read.
