Hot Rod Heaven

Brehann is awoken in the middle of the night by a slamming car door. That, in itself, isn’t odd, but when you consider that it’s the second anniversary of the day her fiancé died in a crash, Bree is understandably startled. She’s even more disturbed when a rapping at her back door follows the slam. When she looks out the back and sees Sebastian “Bash” Bernecchi, that is the biggest surprise of all. She hasn’t seen him since her fiancé died.

Bash can’t believe it. He’s in town for the first time in two years and before he passes Bree’s house, his car dies. Full of gas, just tuned up, no problems he knows of, and it just dies. Forced to ask for help, he is saddened by the fact that Bree’s garage is untouched and remains exactly as it was before Luke died. The only thing missing is his car.

Two years ago Bash and Bree had shared a night that changed their lives. Luke, the domineering jerk that he was, found out and stormed off to confront Bash. That was when he got into the accident. Now, when Bash takes Bree up on her offer of a visit, a mysterious Corvette revs it’s engine outside. When Bash touches her, it peals out into the night. The ‘Vette shows up often enough to be menacing. What ensues is a ghost story worth re-reading.

This was a really great twist on a theme. Take a doomed love affair, a controlling fiancé from the grave, and hot cars and you get this engrossing story. Hot Rod Heaven is not only a ghost story, but also a story of continuing on with one’s life and leaving the past in the past. A sweet, yet steamy relationship between Bash and Bree keep the story balanced. I really enjoyed this book and have made Ms. Blazer an auto-buy author.
