Requiem For the Devil

Lucifer, or Louis as he introduces himself, finds himself obsessed with Gianna, a singer by night and a lobbyist by day. Never having dated a woman more than once, Lucifer finds himself embarking on a relationship. After dating her for a while, Lucifer says the words that he has never uttered before -‘I love you.’ Exploring the relationship and celebrating Christmas with Gianna’s family makes him restless with his existence. A revelation by his minion and a disturbing dream make him wonder if he can receive absolution.

Requiem for the Devil is a first person account of the modern day life of the Devil. The beginning of the story is a rather sweet romance between the Prince of Darkness and a strong-willed woman. About a quarter of the way in, Mephistopheles introduces a truly horrific idea about world chaos and a new Civil War. Near the end, Lucifer is dared to do something ‘good’ to prove that his position isn’t fated.

Ms. Smith-Ready tells an amazing story that reads very quickly. Once I picked it up, I couldn’t put it down. I had a hard time categorizing this book. It does have a romantic story, but I think that it’s more than a romance. I understand that the subject matter isn’t for everyone, but it is an amazing story that really engages your mind. It’s because of this that I give it a 5 Angel Recommended Read.
