Survivor in Death

A gallon of real coffee, tripping over Galahad, sniping at Summerset, wild, hot monkey sex with Roarke, and standing for the dead, that’s all Lieutenant Eve Dallas’ life has been until the day she brings home Nixie Swisher. Nixie is the only survivor and witness of the murder of her entire family. Not only does Eve have to deal with finding out why the Swishers, an absolutely normal family, were murdered, but she also has to deal with the ghosts from her past that are raised. Eve deals well with the dead, but not so well with the living.

This was by far the best book in the series. Ms. Robb has created such an amazing cast of characters that you cannot wait for each new book to see what is next for them. Peabody and her relationship with McNab, watching her catch her stride as a detective, Mavis and Leonardo dealing with her pregnancy and impending motherhood are all just amazing stories that have been woven into an intricate tapestry. I wish that I could say more about the plot in this latest installment, but there are so many details that I’m afraid to say anything! I will say that I cried so much during this book, not only because I’m a mother and it deals with the death of children, but also because it was amazing watching a strong man and a strong woman deal with the ghosts they have in their pasts. It is very unusual to find a fictional character that you can be proud of and respect. I believe that Ms. Robb has done her job well and hope that there will be many more installments in the In Death series.
