Hot Springs

Although Larissa’s expedition to the Amazon to research the everyday medicinal properties of native plants had been a roaring success, she was interested in one last plant called the Yonamayi. She was curious about the uses of this hallucinogenic plant whose effects were never quite explained. She finally convinces Carlos, an old shaman, to introduce it to her but he insists that she complete the entire ritual, which includes climbing to a sacred Hot Springs high in the mountains. Once the drug takes effect, she begins a hallucinogenic journey revolving around sex and her sexuality. She just hopes she remembers it when the drug wears off!

Sundari does a good job examining Larissa’s fears regarding her age, her sexuality and her true reason for wanted to learn about the Yonamayi. The mystical quality of the surroundings were so well described and written in such a sexually charged way, that I felt almost as if I had taken the drug and hiked through the mountains with Larissa and Carlos. If you’re looking for a quick, hot, yet believable read, then Hot Springs is the book for you!
