LuAnn McLane Interview
Welcome to Fallen Angel Reviews, LuAnn McLane! I would like to thank you for taking time out of your schedule to interview with us.
Please tell us a little about yourself.
I live in Florence, Kentucky with my husband of 24 years. We have four children, three boys and one girl. My two oldest are in college and I have a sophomore in high school and my baby (daughter) is an eighth grader. When I'm not writing, I enjoy long walks, chick flicks and sports.
I loved Cabin Fever, in the Wildest Dreams anthology. For those that have not read this book, can you tell them a little about it?
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Cabin Fever is about Rachel Manning who pens sweet love stories for a living, but discovers a sensual side when she write a very hot fantasy for online readers. She keep her pen name a secret and only writes her hot stories at her cabin hideaway. One night during an ice storm, her agent, Jake Nichols, shows up when she is in the middle of writing one of her sexy stories and what happens could have been ripped form the pages of the story Rachel is writing. Cabin Fever was a fun novella to write because the reader gets to read Rachel's novel, making Cabin Fever, a story within a story.
Are you working on anything at the moment?
Yes, several things. My August release, HOT SUMMER NIGHTS, just hit the shelves. It centers around minor league baseball and has a very "Bull Durham" feel. I have another novella coming out in the near future called DRIVEN, about a romance author who has to teach a mystery writer how to write a love scene. It was a hoot to write. I'm working WILD RIDE, a fun story where the hero designs roller coasters.
What can we look forward to from LuAnn McLane in the future?
More sexy stories sprinkles with humor. I'm also working on a young adult novel.
Do you have a set writing schedule?
I write almost every day. Summer is less structured, but now that my kids are back in school, I will settle back into a routine.
Describe a day in the life of LuAnn McLane.
I'm at my desk from morning until late afternoon. I try to get a walk in sometime during the day. I answer e-mails throughout the day as well. Now that I have another book out, I have to do promo related stuff as well.
How did you feel when you first got published?
Very blessed! The cool thing is that even if I won the lottery, I would be sitting at my desk writing.
Who or what inspires you the most?
Fan mail! I love it when a reader enjoys my work and takes the time to tell me. It just makes me want to write like crazy.
What authors do you enjoy reading?
I don't have nearly enough time to read all of the great authors out there! I enjoy Karen Robards, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Lori Foster.... the list is long!
Do your stories just come to you or do you plan them out?
I have little bitty ideas that just snowball. I don't plan the whole book. The characters surprise me all the time.
Has your life changed any since you've became a published author? If so, how?
Writing takes so much time away from other things! Getting published takes away some of the guilt.
Where do you see yourself five years from now?
Well, my children will all be adults by then, giving me more time to devote to writing and also doing more traveling.
What advice would you give aspiring authors?
Never give up. Honestly, that is the key.
Is there anything you would like to add to this interview?
Just a big thank you! And I love to hear from readers.
Thank you, LuAnn, for interviewing with us. It was a pleasure to meet you and I look forward to reading more of your work!
