Welcome to Fallen Angel Reviews, Belinda and thank you for taking the time to join us. All of Belinda's books can be seen at her website. When did you first know you wanted to be an author? Was it a choice for you or something you HAD to be? I didn't realize I was an author for nearly a year after I began writing The Guardians of Eternity. Back then, it was unimaginatively named, The Dragon and the Dove. It was the first tale that poured out when I popped the release valve on my pent-up imagination. Years and novels later, the pressure of all the stories flowing through my head is still so forceful that I have to write to stay grounded in earthly reality. I love being lost in the fantasy worlds in my head, but I don't get much done in my life if I allow that.Has there been someone in your life that inspired you or encouraged you along the way? Not someone, but a nebulous expectation has always skewed my view of how life is supposed to be. I've enjoyed my existence thusfar, but even when I was young, I was always wondering, is this all there is here? I somehow expect more, even though I'm not sure what that is. Waiting for the answer makes me stretch my mind so I don't miss it when it comes. You obviously have a very vivid imagination, as I've seen by reading your books. Where does that imagination come from? It's always been there. I spent half of my school years staring out the window or doodling on my bookcovers while vivid scenes and tales filled my head. As a passenger in a car, I daydream out the window. I used to lay awake at night for hours before I could sleep, streams of stories flowing through my mind in vivid movie scenes. Of course, I'm too damned tired nowadays to lay awake at night, but it's always on, competing with my attention to this earthly lifetime.Do you have a set writing schedule? Yes. Whenever I can ditch my real life and get back to my novels. In Forever Yours, you write about reincarnation. Why that subject? The idea of it has always seemed natural to me, so it gets included in my stories. And too, I grew up reading from the shelf in the living room, which were loaded with material about paranormal happenings and ideas, metaphysics, psychic phenomena, ghosts, etc, wedged in between encyclopedias and reference books. It's amazing how a parent can help pattern a child just by what's on the bookshelves at home. What are you working on now? I just finished Book 2 of The Guardians of Eternity, The Dark Lord. So, in a few days, I'll be starting book 3, whose subtitle is not yet decided. The War on the Faerbrarean, something to indicate Rogar's bad mood. How did it feel the first time your book was published? Call me unenthusiastic, but it felt like one small step toward my goal - and ninety nine million to go.Do you have a favorite hobby that you enjoy when you need to relax? I really love movies. Always have. I was half couch potato as a kid. No one supervised what I watched, so I watched everything. Even if it's not the greatest movie, I enjoy watching it as if I was a director, or I turn down the sound and watch how people relay what they're thinking in posture and expressions. All of your books are a mix of romance, sci-fi and fantasy. What is it about this mix that works for you? I'm never quite sure how to handle this question, though I'm asked it frequently. To me, ghosts are just people that we glimpse through momentary windows between dimensions. Aliens are just people living on other worlds. There's always some portion of real history to legends and myths. I don't just see myself as a human living one lifetime on Earth, and then I die and go to Heaven or Hell. Everything in the Cosmos is my heritage.Have you written other genres in the past or have plans to in the future? I'm busy with just the three, Exiled Treasure, Forever Yours, and The Guardians of Eternity, for now. After that, I'd like to write some offshoots of Guardians of Eternity. And maybe an erotica one day. I have a novel written, Meant to be Mine. It's about a woman who's turned into a man by an act of God, and her…his life as he adjusts. I tried to target paranormal romance readers, but they found it offensive. Now I know who the audience is for this book, so I'm looking forward to polishing it up one day and submitting to the proper publisher.I have read The Guardians of Eternity. Book 1, Rogar of Hamun and I really enjoyed it. I thought this was a very intense story and I know there are plans for 5 more. What will you tell us about the others? Not much! Since few have even read the first novel yet, Rogar of Hamun, I'll keep quiet about future plots. But I have just finished the second book, The Dark Lord. What I will say is that I hope readers find this tale to be as incredibly fun and interesting as I do. I feel lucky that The Guardians of Eternity chose me.Do you have a favorite author or book? I often answer this question with a short list of fiction writers, but truly, I prefer research and text books. From bibles to psychic subjects to books of facts. What is the hardest part of writing for you? The easiest? To answer the 'hardest part about writing' question, I think I'd have to give the universal writer's reply - getting time to write! The easiest? I'm not sure. Imagining the story is always easy.Where do you see yourself in 5 years? As a bestselling author whose books are made into successful movies. Because then, I can chase after my most passionate goal - using the money I earn to find ways to save the environment, animals, hungry people, and deal with homelessness.Again, thank you Belinda for interviewing with us. Be on the look out for Belinda's newest release The Guardians of Eternity. Book 1, Rogar of Hamun, coming from Wings ePress in June 2004. Interviewed by: Jaymi
