Katriena Knights Interview
Thank you for taking your time out and doing this interview for Fallen Angel Reviews. We appreciate it.
What publisher or publishers do you write for?
I’m published with ImaJinn Books, LTD Books, and Hard Shell Word Factory.
What are you currently working on?
Some new stuff. I’m trying to branch out a bit, try some new things, maybe snag an agent.
Have you always wanted to be a writer? Why or why not?
Yes. I’ve been writing since I was three, literally. I used to quote poems to my mom and she would write them down for me. Actually, I’ve always been a writer, rather than always wanting to be.
Do your characters talk to you?
Constantly. Sometimes I just wish they’d shut the hell up for five seconds… lol.
Who is your favorite character in any of your books and why?
I’m very fond of Harrison Fairfax, from Starchild. Not sure why. I just like him. I think I got extra-involved in that book while I was writing it, and therefore got extra-involved with him.
If you were stranded on a deserted island with only one book; what book would it be?
Probably the Bible, and not necessarily for religious reasons. There’s just so much there to read over and over—poetry, adventure, philosophy, raunchy sex, violent violence. It’s a library in itself.
Who is your favorite author? Print and Ebook?
I have a lot of favorite authors. My all-time God of the written word is Roger Zelazny. I love Diana Gabaldon. Kate Douglas rocks. Stephanie Burke is one of the most imaginative storytellers I’ve ever run across. There are just so many.
Do you believe in writer’s block and how do you solve it?
I don’t believe in writer’s block but at times it believes in me. I solve it usually by just relaxing for a bit, because with me often it’s just a matter of burnout. Or sometimes I’ll be blocked on one project, but can pick up another and do fine.
What’s the best advice to give to a new author?
Never give up. Keep writing. Take whatever advice feels right to you and ditch the rest. Always work on your craft and never, never stop learning.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
I have no idea. My life has gone through some turmoil this year, so I’m just riding the wave to see what happens. I expect the next five years to be very interesting.
Could you please tell everyone a little bit about you and possibly share some of your work?
I’m thoroughly addicted to the writing process, and don’t think that will ever change. I love creating new worlds, and letting characters take me over for the amount of time it takes them to tell me their stories. I love to hear from my readers. I can be contacted through my website at http://katrienaknights.kabeka.com I have several excerpts available there, so please drop by and say hi.
Thank you again for you time.
