Vivian Hart Interview
Fallen Angel Reviews would like to welcome Vivian Hart. Vivian is the very talented erotic fantasy author who has written such titles as The Maiden’s Voyage, and The Gentle Master, both available now from eXtasy Books and Fictionwise. Thank you for being here, Vivian.
Jennifer, thanks so much for inviting me!
Would you please tell us a little about yourself? I’m 35, Jewish, and I live in Downeast Maine with my partner and best friend, Mitch. I love dogs although I don’t have one right now. I have cats. My favorite food is pizza.
How long have you been writing, and did you always know you wanted to be an writer? I’ve been writing steadily for the past seven years. I did always have the natural tendency to write and the desire to write novels, but didn’t have the confidence or discipline to do so. Those things have come from being in the relationship I’m in now. Love has been the best influence on me!
What was your first book published, and how did it feel when it that happened? The Maiden’s Voyage was my first book published ever. The original manuscript was a sweet romance with no sensuality whatsoever! LOL. I reworked it as an erotic romance and submitted to eXtasy Books, which I found on the Internet. They liked it and helped me launch my career. Boy, when I got that first acceptance I was so thrilled! My stepdaughter and I saw the e-mail together and we jumped up and down then ran to tell Mitch about it.
Is there any one person or author who has inspired you? As far as the subject matter and the emotions in my books, Mitch is the inspiration. I dedicate all my books to him. I have read authors whose writing inspires me to strive for the most fluid and expressive language possible: Mary Renault, Saul Bellow, and Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
What inspires you to write erotic fantasy? LOL! Well, I think part of it is my nature. In the zodiac I’m a Taurus- they tend to be sensualists- earthy people who love romance and lovemaking. I just love romance and love- and when I read it, I like it to be more graphic. So I write what I would enjoy reading.
Which book was your favorite to write and why? Truthfully, I’ve enjoyed writing each and every one. But my Weiran Masters Series (The Gentle Master, A King for Sarna-Tarot: Queen of Wands) is my favorite. First of all, I love the world I created in these stories. There’s magic and brave warriors and loving, strong women. It’s a melding of all the cultures I find fascinating. The heroes are my absolute favorites!
Have you ever based any of your characters on somebody you know? All my characters are derivatives of the various people in my life.
What is the most rewarding part about being an author? Actually, there are two deeply rewarding parts of being an author. First, expressing my creativity is a joy, and I feel so fortunate to have an outlet for it. Second is when a reader has loved something I’ve written and tells me. That is very rewarding, especially when he or she has been touched by the emotions between the characters as well as the sensuality.
Could you tell us what you are working on now and maybe give us a sneak peak? Well, actually, I just found out that a recent book I completed has been accepted for publication at Liquid Silver Books. It’s a contemporary with paranormal element of reincarnation. I’ll share a blurb and excerpt:
Blurb: Josh Landau has loved Maggie Golden for more than one lifetime. He has always felt she’s his soul mate, offering her friendship, love and passion to heal her embittered soul. Dark forces, however, work against their love. Unbeknownst to them, the jealousy and fear of others create deceptions to keep them apart, to keep Maggie believing that love isn’t real. Maggie doesn’t believe in romantic love and keeps a wall up to it in her heart. She doesn’t understand why, and longs for an answer, especially when she would resist loving her best friend Josh. He’s handsome, passionate, and loves her.
And then, strange dreams begin offering her clues to the past...clues that could heal her wounds and open her to a world of love. Or are they dreams?
Lovers In Time
Maggie smiled. The firelight glinted off his hair, making it appear golden. “So are you.” She just had time to whisper the words before Josh captured her mouth in a kiss. Tenderly, but firmly, he pressed his lips against hers. He smelled of rain and spicy aftershave. His aroma drifted into her nostrils, filling her, making her body tingle.
He feathered the tip of his tongue along her lips, bidding her to part them. When she did, he danced his tongue sensuously against hers. His breathing grew heavier and ragged and gently he pushed Maggie back against the sofa cushions. For one moment, he lifted his face and gazed down at her. His hazel eyes were dusky under heavy lids, and his chest heaved with ragged breaths.
Maggie could feel his erection pressing into her thigh. Her own insides were careening wildly, and the room appeared to tilt this way and that. She was torn between wanting to jump up and run upstairs and wanting Josh inside of her, his bare flesh pressed to hers.
“I love you, Maggie,” he whispered, dipping his mouth back down to hers. The joining of their lips was warm and erotic. Josh tasted her languorously, his soft beard tickling her lips and chin in a delicious way. He moaned softly in his throat. The gentle sound vibrated in her mouth.
Gingerly, Maggie reached up and touched Josh’s hair. It was unbelievably soft against her fingertips. She began to caress it, winding her fingertips in the luxurious mane.
Josh surged against her, seeming encouraged by her touch in his hair and deepened his kisses, his tongue plundering against hers with urgency.
What do you like to do when you are not writing? Do you have any hobbies?
When I’m not writing I enjoy gardening, reading and hiking on the beautiful trails near my house.
Is there anything you would like to add to this interview?
Yes. First, I would like to invite everyone to subscribe to my newsletter. It will keep readers up-to-date on what books are coming up. Also, I have a Romance Hero of the Month introduced by my fellow writer, Vivi Anna. She’s very funny and makes the newsletter a lot of fun to read. Just send a blank email. Also, I would like to say that in my books I strive to create a story that’s fun to read, has a lot of delicious lovemaking in it and which also leaves the reader feeling positive about love and romance. I really hope that comes through. And thank you, Jennifer for interviewing me.
