Kelly McDonough Interview

Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to answer a few questions for us at FAR. We appreciate all the hard work you portray in your work.

What are you working on right now?

I'm working on a story about an angel who is sent to be the bridge from life to death for gorgeous widower's mother and to find him a wife and mother for his little girl. She's not supposed to get romantically involved with him or she won't get to see her parents who died in a car crash with her when she was a little girl. Of course, she winds up falling… and I don't know the rest. I'm just going to fool around with it and have some fun.
Who is your favorite author?

Colleen McCullough
What is something personal that you believe your readers would like to know about you?

That it's so hard for me to say good-bye to my kids (my son is 9 and my daughter 5). It doesn't even matter if they're only going down the street to play. I always miss them!
What is your best quality as a writer?

Knowing that I have to keep working on bettering my writing skills.
What is your worse?

That sometimes I'm so laid back, I don't write for awhile.
Do you believe in writers block?

Absolutely! I had one while editing my second book Twist of Faith. My editor said she wanted another chapter added to the end. Well, that got me jump started real quick! I had no choice but to write.
Do you have a job besides being an author? What is it?

Yes, I work 31/2 hours a day at a local university's library. The hours will be perfect when my kids go back to school, and I get off all the holidays and stuff they do.
As a child growing up who was your biggest hero?

I don't know if I had any real heroes. I had crushes on a lot of movie stars from back then like Leif Garrett, Sean Cassidy, Scott Bao, Jimmy McNichols.
What did you want to be when you grew up?

A writer
Who is your favorite character? Male and female?

My favorite female character is Jennifer Anistin. I think she's so funny.
And my favorite male character is Harrison Ford because, well, he's Harrison Ford!
Do your characters talk to you as you write?

What do they say? I don't listen to them… I just type as fast as I can. I always say that it's not me writing that I have angels beneath my fingers.
What is the biggest misconception about being an author?

That it's a glamorous job. And as for being a romance author… let's just say people have some strange ideas about that.
What is the worse part about being an author?

The amount of promotion and marketing you MUST do. It's neverending.
The best?

Seeing your work in print and hearing that someone actually liked your story.
Could you please share some of your work with us?

Well, my first story Crazy for Kate is a tender love story.

My second book Twist of Faith is about a priest who falls in love and he's struggling with it.

My third book is a bit different. It's about a quirky, black corporate fairy godmother that brings the owner of the company together with one of his employees who has admired him from afar.
All three will be published by Wings Press.

My fourth book Make Believe Bride is a marriage of convenience theme and will be put out by Publish America.
Thank you for being here and for answering our questions. Have a wonderful day.
