Welcome to Fallen Angel Reviews
Martha. Thank you for stopping by to chat with us.
Garden of Desire is your first published book. The book consists of three short stories, can you tell us a little about each?
Healing Water is a short historical story about a man named Frank Healed who becomes the manager of an old troubled hotel in 1939. This kind of hotel actually existed and inspired my story. Abandoned is the story of a teenager Jeanie Blake who is looking for her missing mother. It’s set in Miami, Florida and was also inspired by a girl who lost a parent. Love Letter is about a young lady named Patricia Field who has a crush on a young man. The problem is he disappears while on a trip.
Each of these stories is distinct and not within the same genre. Can readers expect to see your work across a variety of genres?
Yes, there isn’t any genre that I wouldn’t like to write about.
Are there genres you find more appealing to write? Read?
I like all genres but I seem more drawn to historical non-fiction, romance, and horror. Any character I can relate to personally I’ll read about, just to see how the character solves their problems.
What was your reaction when you saw your work available for purchase?
I was surprised and excited. It happened earlier than I thought and I was so glad I wanted to celebrate. It was good news. I really like being an author.
Where do you find the inspiration for your characters?
Inspiration comes from any interesting person with a fascinating dilemma.
How long have you been writing?
I started my first story when I was 10. I would practice writing songs and when I was in high school I took creative writing and wrote a few poems.
What do you enjoy about writing?
Everything, I love bringing stories to life and creating people who can be heroes. When the story is finished I feel good like I have accomplished something.
Is there any one person or event that has kept you inspired to write?
I just like being creative. My grandmother is a poet and my parents are creative so they support my interest.
When you are not writing, how else do you spend your time?
Working part-time, going to college classes, and volunteering at church.
You also have a book of poetry,
The Silent Journey, which is available at
www.poetry.com. Can you tell readers a little about your poetry?
My ideas come to me at night when I’m rested. I write about my feelings and I like rhyming them so they flow at a quicker pace.
In addition to writing you also work and go to school, how do you balance it all?
I follow a school and work schedule that stays the same. Working part-time gives me extra time to study and write story outlines.
You have another work coming soon,
Flames of Fate. Can you tell us a little about this?
It has two stories. The first is Rusty Reflections. This is about a teenage girl named Amanda Weaver who we can follow growing up, falling in love, solving problems, and helping others. It is also a ghost story.
An Affair in Bloom is the second story of Molly Dew and she is unhappily married to Andy. They get into a marital mess and she finds a new job and meets, Shawn, who she wants to date. She’s feeling abused and out of that anger she cheats on her husband. Her only child, Angela, is then kidnapped out of Andy’s revenge.
What else are you working on?
I’m working on Rusty Reflections as a screenplay. I have also just started a novel I’m calling Frost in June.
Is there anything else you would like to share with us?
Only that I hope everyone enjoys my stories and poems.
