Hi,
Lyndi! Welcome to Fallen Angel Reviews! Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to visit with us.
If you were to describe your new release,
Desperado, to someone who has not had the pleasure of reading one of your other books, would you say it is a simple romance or a steamy romance?
Jessica, thanks for having me at Fallen Angel Reviews. Desperado is definitely a steamy romance, probably my steamiest yet. Bart and Esther are both passionate people and they don’t hesitate to act on their urges.
What inspired you to write historical/western romance?
I have always loved historical romance in all its guises, westerns included. As a child I watched a lot of Western on TV since that was my dad’s favorite genre. I fell in love with Brett Maverick at an impressionable age, but I also loved Bonanza, The Big Valley, and other Western series.
With you writing historical/western romances, what do you derive the most inspiration from for your writing?
My inspiration varies from story to story. For Lily and the Gambler, it was watching Oklahoma again and thinking that it would be fun to write an “Ado Annie” type of character. For Desperado, it was the first scene between Etta Place and the Sundance Kid in the movie, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
Is there something special you like to do with your free time when you are not writing?
I love to travel, though I don’t get to go as much as I’d like to, and of course, I love to read. I’m a librarian and I still work part time at a local public library. I belong to a readers group at another branch library and I enjoy discussing the books we read with the other members.
How do you keep your ideas fresh and imaginative writing romances that are historical in nature?
I have written in several different time periods and settings, which I think helps to keep things fresh and different. Of course, that means having to research each setting every time. I know it’s easier to pick a period and stick to it, but that if I did that, I’d worry about getting too complacent. Guess I enjoy variety in my writing as well as my reading.
Do you have a favorite character from one of your books that you might be interested in revisiting for a follow-up book or incorporating into a new book as a supporting character?
Jessica, I honestly have to say no to that question. So far, all of the “Lyndi” stories seem to have come to a natural conclusion, and I can’t see any sequels. Maybe something will occur to me at some point in the future. Never say never.
Are there any other styles of books that you like to write other than historical and western romances?
In my other incarnation, as Linda McLaughlin, I like to write traditional (sweet) Regency romances. I have several sequels planned to Lady Elinor’s Escape, but they have yet to be written. Lyndi has been keeping me too busy. (grin)
In
Desperado, Esther appears quiet and timid with everyone except her beloved Bart. Was this the original idea for the story or did it evolve into this?
Hm, interesting question. I don’t see Esther as timid so much as demur and ladylike with everyone but Bart. She is a schoolteacher and thus needs to keep her public persona respectable. Bart brings out the wild woman in her, which makes the story fun.
Per your website, I see you are currently working on a new book titled,
Dare All For Love: An Anthology of Erotic Romance, with a tentative release of August 2005. Can you give a hint about this book? (grin)
Dare All For Love is the paperback compilation of four stories that have been available only as electronic downloads: Lily and the Gambler, Painting Penelope, Prepare To Be Boarded, and Desperado. All four stories explore a past society’s disapproval of sex out of wedlock. What kind of woman dared to break the rules to find true love? The heroines wrestle with the desire to indulge her urges versus remaining chaste and respectable. This is a dilemma most women can relate to.
The paperback will be available sometime in mid-August from Amber Quill and Booksurge.
Also on your website is a section labeled Ambers Heat Authors Webring. Can you tell us a little about this section and what benefits it offers?
This is a webring for a group of erotica authors at Amber Quill Press. Clicking on “Next” or “Random” takes the viewer to a variety of authors’ websites. It is a way we can help promote each other and make other similar sites readily available to our readers.
Do you have any other upcoming works that you would like to tell us about?
My upcoming projects are a contemporary paranormal set in Sedona, Arizona, and a Revolutionary War spy story set in Philadelphia. The spy story is part of the Prying Eyes AmberPax™ due out in April 2006. Both are erotic romance.
Is there anything else you would like to share with us?
I’m working on starting a Yahoo Groups newsletter / announcement list to keep readers informed. I’m also planning a website contest for the month of September. I’ll post details of both at my website http://www.lyndilamont.com as soon as I have everything finalized.
Thank you so much for stopping by
Lyndi. Let me add this for you readers out there, if you have not had a chance to read some of
Lyndi’s work, stop by her website to see what you are missing. It is definitely worth the stop.
Jessica, thank you so much for this opportunity. You all are doing a tremendous job at Fallen Angel Reviews.
