Audra Cole Interview
Good afternoon Ms. Cole. Thanks for taking the time to answer a few questions. I'd like to start by asking you about yourself.
What fun things would you like your fans to know?
Well, I’m the type of person who likes to experiment with my writing, try different things, various genres, too. For me, writing started as an outlet, more like a hobby, many years ago, but once I sold my first piece, that was it! On a personal note, I enjoy rock music, as well as jazz and blues. Love to dance, but can't sing worth a hoot. I love to travel and really enjoy book expos and conferences, meeting other authors, readers, publishers, etc. I especially like to meet my readers and talk with them, whether it is in person or via the Internet.
How did you and your husband meet?
I'm not married.
What is your definition of a good day?
A good day is when the creative juices are flowing and the story I'm working on just falls into place. Also, a good day is when I can get out in the sunshine, spend a little time at the pool and relax.
How do you write? Do you schedule writing time? Do you use a computer or pen and paper? Do you write by the seat of your pants or plot?
I do schedule my writing time. I write by outline, but a very general one, because once I sit down at the computer and start writing the story, things can change. I make my outlines with pen and paper, the rest is at the computer.
Are you able to write full time? If so, how long have you been writing as a full time job?
I have two more weeks to work a 'day job' then I'll be writing full time. I also do freelance editing, and have been editing for a couple of publishers for a while. I can't wait to devote all my time to writing and editing!
How did you find out you were going to be published? Email, letter, phone call? How did you celebrate?
I found out via e-mail and I did a happy dance around the room! Then, I decided to outline some more books!
How did you choose paranormal romance as your niche?
The paranormal romance side of me is really more like an alter ego. I write cozy mysteries and true crime under my real name, carol guy. Actually, that paranormal side has always been lurking underneath the surface, but it was a suggestion (and encouragement) from Tina Haveman, my publisher at Zumaya publications that gave me the courage to write that first paranormal novel, night of the Canid. After that, i just couldn't stop thinking about the genre and the ideas just kept coming.
Can you tell us about your current releases?
Current releases are: night of the Canid (first in a series); shadows in the night (second in the series). This series is about shapshifters who can turn into wolves. Both have explicit sex plus mystery and suspense.
I also have Spirit Lake, which is a ghost story laced with murder and hot romance.
Do you have anything new coming out soon? Can you give us a sneak peek?
The sequel to Spirit Lake, called Echoes of the Past, is just going into editing. It has more ghostly visitations, more murder and lots more hot romance, as more secrets of the town and its past are revealed.
I saw that you write for eXtasy Books, do you have books anywhere else?
I just signed a contract with Mundania Press for a cozy mystery called Vengeance can wait. This will be published under my real name, Carol Guy. My other cozy mystery, Murder at the Ice Cream Parlor, was published by Treble Heart Books and my true crime book, A Picture Perfect Kid, was published by Zumaya Publications.
Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to answer our questions. If you would like to find out more about her books, you can see them at http://www.extasybooks.com/results.php3?aname=Audra+Cole.
