FAR would like to thank Silk's Vault author
Delinda Jasper for joining us. Welcome!
Thanks for having me!
Tell your fans something about you they would never guess.
I guess something that no one would ever guess is that I am a trained and licensed Master Barber.
Of all things you have accomplished, is there one accomplishment you are most proud of?
I can only pick one? That’s a tough one. I guess my proudest moment was when I learned my first book would be published. It was back in September and I’m still a bit dizzy with elation! Though the thought that I actually have fans is pretty awesome!
If you could be invisible for one hour, what would you do and where would you go?
Well, other than Josh Duhamel’s (Danny on Las Vegas) Bedroom, LOL! I Would probably want to stand over the shoulder of a few people while they read my books…so that I can get their honest first reaction.
Could you tell us your biggest pet peeves?
Rude people. I hate rudeness. I hate people who need the attention on them so much they don’t allow anyone else to speak.
Since everybody needs a break, even when doing something they love, how do you like to spend your time away from writing?
Well, strangely enough, writing is what I do to take a break! When I’m not writing you can usually find me working on graphics or book covers, or working on my review site, and occasionally, when I really have to, you MIGHT catch me cleaning house! LOL! And when I have time between all that, I play with my three adorable 4-legged children.
Congratulations on your first book,
Making Changes. Can you tell us a little bit about it?
Thanks. In Making Changes Mindy is an overworked and under appreciated housewife. She has become fed up with her husband, Nick, ignoring and taking advantage of her. Nick just can’t seem to get it. Nothing she says will make him understand how she feels, so she gives him an ultimatum. Either he shapes up or she’s gonna ship out. Will Nick wake up and be creative enough to keep the love of his life? Or will it be too late?
How did you come up with this idea? I hope not from real life. (grin)
Well, actually, in a way it did come from real life. Everything I write comes from real life in some form. Usually I take an emotion, a feeling, and shape a story around that. I try really hard to make the lives of my characters mirror real life in that they go through situations and emotions we all go through.
Do you have anything in the works right now?
Yes. I have a new book coming out early next year from Silk’s Vault called “A Reason to Stay” which is about two best friends, Ellie and Jake who have an unexpected night of passion. As in any case, sex with a friend can be a tricky thing. Will their physical attraction bring them together or tear them apart?
I also have several other works in progress, including a sequel to Making Changes.
How has being published changed your life, if at all?
It has made me much busier than I ever have been! Now that I have my first book out and my second on its way, I have several more in the works. In addition I’m now a columnist over at SUITE Magazine www.suitemag.com.
I have to say, getting published has boosted my confidence so much. It took me a long time to TRY to get published, but now…I don’t think I’ll ever stop! LOL!
Any advice for aspiring authors?
If you really want to get published, edit, edit, edit, until you think there is no possible way an editor could find anything to change. (trust me they will) Then submit. If you get rejected, edit some more and submit again. But the most important thing I can tell you is have confidence in yourself and don’t give up.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I also write non-erotic fiction and poetry under the pen name Dayton Jones. I just released my first illustrated book of poetry in e-book format. You can find that at http://www.gypsytentbooks.errw.com and you can check out the Dayton Jones blog, Dayton Jones—A BBW with a Brain at www.daytonjones.blogspot.com
Also, don’t forget to drop by my graphics site www.gypsyqueengraphics.com, I have lots of free stuff there. ;)
Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions. If you're interested in reading more about this new author you can check out her
