Hi
Liz! Welcome to Fallen Angels Reviews! Were so glad you could be here with us today.
Thanks Tammy, Glad to be here.
Book Three in the Redemption Series
Lily's Surrender is due out soon from Loose ID, Can you tell us more about it and when we can expect to see it?
Lily's Surrender is due out this month. It is the conclusion of the Redemption Series and tells the story of Lily, little sister of Logan and Steven, and Marc Gossnor, the mysterious owner of Grossman Corp. It's a slight departure from the first two stories, because the BDSM element is more prominent than the suspense elements, although there is still a bit of a mystery.
The Redemption Series is co-authored with Lena Matthews, what is it like to write with a partner?
I love writing with a partner. It is great to bounce ideas off of another person and whenever I am stuck she always has an idea that can push me through. Lena is an awesome collaborator too because we both listen to the others ideas and build off of each other. I am actually worried about how well I will write when it’s just me, LOL.
Has being published changed you at all? If so, how?
I do a lot of things I never thought I would ever do. For example, the amount of promotional work to get my name out there and to let the readers know about our books. I have started a website, a blog and joined so many yahoo groups my page is full. My time is certainly more scheduled as well. I still have a full time non-writing job, so I have to really be diligent about spending time writing as well as scheduling personal time.
What is the one thing that you would want us, the readers to know about you?
I love to hear from the readers and know what they liked about our stories.
What would we find on your bookshelf?
Well, I recently had a garage sale and got rid of a lot of my books. I'm down to three bookshelves now. That's the beauty of the ebook. No need to add onto your house in order to fit all the bookshelves. Of course there are lots of romances, erotic as well as the traditional historicals, paranormals, contemporaries, the whole gamut. But I also have some Sci Fi stuff, Horror, Fantasy, and I have held onto a lot of my old children's books. I just love to read, can you tell.
Can you tell us a little about your upcoming book
The Myth of Moonlight?
This book has been a long and arduous journey. We actually started this book right after we finished Logan's Temptation and got the first three chapters done when Logan was accepted and we started edits. Loose Id immediately started asking about Steven, so our Werewolf story was shelved again. We started back at it after we finished Lily. We were halfway through it when we did a re-read and realized we had super expanded the story to the point we had lost our original hero and heroine. So, we took out about five chapters, went back to the basics and we hope to have it finished soon. Good news is that the five chapters we took out can be turned into two more books.
Anyway, you probably wanted to know about the actual plot huh? Kimberly is a Werewolf who is denying her heritage and living the life of a young single woman in Northern California. Nico is the head of his Werewolf pack and interested in finding out who this interesting young lupa is and what she is doing in his territory.
Logan's Temptation, Book 1 in the Redemption Series, received a Recommended Read here at FAR. Would you tell us a little more about this book?
I have a special place in my heart for this book, as it was my first. Logan was the bad boy who left town and made good. He comes back to help out the family that took him in when he was a teenager. Of course he's also interested in their daughter, Evie. There are a couple of mysteries in the book, for example, who is Grossman Corp.? The story is set in a small Ohio town and is a good reflection of small-town Midwestern life.
Can you tell us how the Redemption Series came about?
Something I mentioned to Lena made her suddenly have a great idea for a story and we developed Logan and Evie's story in one night. When we developed a family for Logan we decided all the siblings needed a story. We had pretty much figured out Steven's story before Logan was finished. We originally had a totally different idea for Lily's story and because of changes in Logan's story we threw out our original Lily idea and turned the tables by hooking her up with Marc.
Would you like to share any other insight into the creation of your stories?
Our original ideas often change. Although the germ of that original idea always survives, the details change when the story starts to be written. Lena and I have learned to be flexible and roll with the changes.
While writing, how does the story develop for you? Do you go from start to finish or create scenes as they come to you?
We start out with a rough outline and talk about the basics of the story. The beginning is usually very detailed, but we always leave the last half to third of the story open because, as I mentioned above, it is always changing. The ideas you have at the beginning sometimes don't always work once the story starts. We usually do two outlines, one for the first half and then we do another outline for the second half after we've started writing.
How many hours a day do you spend writing?
I try to spend 2-3 hours each night we write, but I can't write every night. I have a full time job and sometimes I need some personal time. So I try to write 3-4 nights a week.
What was the first story you ever wrote?
I wrote short stories in college. My first story was semi-autobiographical about a girl who gets robbed while at work. I definitely expanded the "real" story a bit, but everyone I showed it to liked it. I never wrote a romantic story until Logan though. I often had ideas, but was shy about writing them down.
What are some of your hobbies besides writing?
I love to scrapbook, but I haven't had much time lately. I love to read, swim and hang out with my friends.
Is there anything else you would like to share with us?
Lena and I will be planning a contest to celebrate the release of Lily’s Surrender so check out my newsletter for the details to be coming soon.
