Hi
Dee! It is great to have you here at Fallen Angel Reviews.
Your work has been primarily during the King Arthur timeframe. What appeals to you most about this time?
I guess it is just the days of old when knights were bold that gets to me. My first favorite book was “Ivanhoe.”
What is a typical day like for you?
There is no such thing as a typical day in my life. Hubby is retired and likes me to spend time with him rather than the computer. I write whenever he is busy with one of his projects.
What do you feel is the biggest misconception about being an author?
People think you are raking in millions. Not so, it is so NOT SO.
Given the historical settings of your work, if you could go back in time, where would you go? What is one thing you would want to take with you?
I truly love the middle ages, however I have no desire to go back in time. The sanitary conditions alone give me the willies. However where ever I go I need to take my laptop.
Tell your fans something about you they would never guess.
I have a tattoo on my left thigh of a small fox. It was applied at the direction of Merlin.
What makes a book great to you?
I like a book that takes me away. I prefer fantasy or mystical works, such as “The Mists of Avalon.” I do enjoy other types of books but rarely read outside of my genre during the planning of my book, as I find it colors my own work. I write as if the work was created long ago. I want my readers to believe they have found an ancient tome.
Once you start developing a story, do you write until that work is complete, or do you create multiple stories at once?
I write from the beginning right straight to the end. I used to write several stories at a time, but now find I am so wrapped up in the fantasy one is all I can deal with.
I have noticed a consistent Fox theme. Is this intentional, what does the fox represent to you? (or do we have to read to find out?)
The fox theme is intentional. I write about foxes because I feel they are an underappreciated animal. They are beautiful and clever. And, no one else writes about them.
What was the first story you ever wrote?
I can’t honestly remember. The first I wrote that I attempted to sell, was a contemp about substitute teachers. Needless to say it didn’t sell.
What would you like to accomplish next in your career?
I would truly like to be a well paid Young Adult author. I have been told I write too sweet for the adult market.
Do you have any current works in progress you can tell us about?
Currently I am working on a book entitled “The Vixen’s Tears” It is about the role of women in the formation of nations and churches. And yes there is a fox as the lead character.
How did you derive the concept for the plot for your work
The Fox and the Chalice? Was there a lot of research involved?
I did quite a bit of research for this book as it has religious overtones. I often have people ask “How did you come up with that plot line?” and my answer is I find ideas jumping at me from everywhere. I am a great fan of what if?
Is there anything else you would care to share with us?
I do hope many find my Wings books entertaining.
