Rene Walden Interview

Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to answer some questions for us at FAR- Fallen Angel Reviews. We know a few things about you such as your web site: www.renewalden.com but we are all curious to know more. So by answering these questions you can help us get to know you.

What is the one thing that you would want us, the readers to know about you?
Most folks, who know me, know that I’m very passionate about size acceptance. My trademark is that in all of my books, my heroines are big beautiful women and the sexy men who love them.

Our society, in general, focuses on the skinny, waif like creatures that we all see in advertising. But, in reality, the majority of us are heavier than a 7th grader. And I’m not saying I have a problem with smaller people either, my thing is that people should be accepted regardless of their body size. Sexy comes in all sizes. I see both sides of the fence, so to speak. There are a lot of larger folks who say, well if I could just lose a little weight, I can… whatever the instance may be. For me it’s more about just accepting yourself for who you are. Sexy isn’t a body size, it’s in your mind and your attitude. Confidence and pride in yourself is super sexy regardless of your size.

Not only are you a writer but you carry many other hats or jobs, can you tell us what you do do or should we say what you are not involved in?
Yes, I do wear a lot of hats. Let’s see, where to begin…I’m the Senior Editor, Promotions Coordinator, and Assistant Bookkeeper at Silk’s Vault Publishing. I’m the Interview Coordinator and Assistant Editor at Erotic Romance Reviews for Women. Then, of course, if ya throw in the home hats, it also includes wife and mom. LOL

What groups do you have that we could join as far as yahoo to find out more about your books?
I have a couple of yahoo groups that focus on writing. One is my own personal author group called The Erotic Dreams of Rene Walden http://groups.yahoo.com/group/EroticDreamsofReneWalden/
This group focuses on my writing and what I’ve got going on.

The other group is called BBW Writer’s Lounge. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BBW_WritersLounge/
This group focuses on folks, who like myself, write or like to read what I call ‘size positive’ books. It’s not a real big group yet, it’s still pretty new, but there are some great author’s on there. So ya’ll check em both out.

Of all your books which one would you say holds the most meaning for you and why?
Well that would have to be Forbidden Dreams. It was my first book published, so I think it’ll always be special to me. I had so many folks encouraging me and urging me on when I was writing it. I have a critique group for authors, both published and unpublished, and we really supported and encouraged each other. Several of us have gone on to be published since the group started.

If you were going to visit any place in the world to research a book where would it be?
Wow, that’s a tough one. There are a lot of places I’d love to see and spend time just digging around and getting to know folks. Probably my favorite place would have to be the Egyptian Pyramids. I’d love to do a story in that setting.

What would you say is your greatest accomplishment in life?
My greatest accomplishment hands down is my daughter. She’s been both my rock and at times, driven me to near insanity. LOL. But I love her with all my heart. She’s always been supportive and encourages me to follow my dreams.

Have you any other ventures going on, like maybe a new venture into clothes or something like that?
Actually, I’m in the process of setting up an online store that will feature products with my own graphics on them. The store is called Chubby Chicks and features BBW erotic artwork I do, like sketches and graphics of larger women. It kinda follows the whole size positive image. I just want people to know that sexy comes in all different sizes. I’ll be posting the information about the store on my site soon.

On your web site www.renewalden.com you have such wonderful places to explore, where did you come up with them?
When I was creating the design for my website, I thought about the types of sites that I really enjoy. I like a lot of information, so naturally I included many of the sites and articles that had helped me out with my writing. Also, I included links to writing friends sites. Even though writing is a solitary business, it really helps to have the support and encouragement from each other. Also I tossed in some fun stuff that I thought folks would enjoy. Hopefully creating a well-rounded site that everyone would be able to just kick back and enjoy spending time on.

Between the time you get an idea to the finish of the book how long does it take you to write it?
In all honesty, that depends on a lot of things, the biggest thing being, the cooperation of my muse. LOL Also, it just kinda depends on what else I have going on at the same time. I’m notorious for multi-tasking. So usually at any given time, I have at least 2 or 3 things taking place at the same time. If it’s to where I can just focus on one thing, depending on the length of the book, I can usually get a decent sized book finished in about a month. Which my idea folder is crammed pack full of new story ideas, so the ideas for the stories come a lot faster than my ability to get em finished. LOL

If you could pick one thing to be known as, what would it be?
I’d like to be known as an inspiration to someone else.

I understand that you are under contract for a lot of books in two different series? Is it hard to write a series?
I don’t really think it’s hard. Some ideas that you come up with as a writer just have a lot of information that can’t be told all at one time. So, then you have a series, many of the characters intermingle between the other books.

Besides writing all those great books, what do you do in your spare time, if you have any?
Spare time is a rarity these days, LOL. Besides writing, and my work with Silk’s and ERRW, I also work a part time job outside the home. But any other free time that I have is spent with family and friends. Sometimes I just have to get away from the writing stuff for a while and just kick back.

With all those great books and even better reviews that are out, what do you have coming out soon? I understand that you have many books coming out. Can you tell us about them?
Well let’s see. I have All In a Day’s Work, its part of The Red Silk Diaries: Volume 1 being released from Silk’s Vault on October 22, 2005. I have The Hunt, which is the first book in my mistress series entitled Her Every Desire. I have Wild Things, which is the first in my stripper series with the same title. I’m also working on another book called The Hour of Madness that has a contract pending.

I understand that you are now under contract for many great books. Can you tell us about them? Just a little tease, please?
All in a Day’s Work is the diary account of a woman working her way thru college as a housekeeper. She sees there are serious problems in the home. Beverly Seran, the woman of the house, is a cold, bitter woman, that’s keeping secrets from her sexy husband Josh. As the story progresses, the sexual sparks fly, and Rene, the housekeeper, becomes very important to him as a confidant and friend.

The Hunt, is the story of Marlene Saunders, a thirty five year old woman from a small town that’s suddenly found herself back in the dating scene after 13 years. Marlene is a free spirit, looking to dance a little on the wild side of life. She decides it’s time to go on the prowl and find some company for her dance.
Following the advice of a friend, who tells her about Internet dating, Marlene decides to give it a shot and ‘meets’ sexy Colin Matthews. Colin isn’t your typical bad boy, but Marlene soon finds out he’s more than ready to join her in the adventure of a lifetime.

Thank you so very much for answering the questions as I am looking forward to hearing more about you and the books you have coming out.
