Hello
Nora! Welcome to Fallen Angel Reviews! Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to visit with us.
If you were to describe your new release,
Love’s Wicked Jewel, to someone who has not had the pleasure of reading one of your other books, would you say it is a simple historical romance or a suspenseful historical romance?
Love has something for everyone. Mystery, suspense and unexpected plot twists. You’d love it no matter if you read simple historical or suspenseful historical. The story has great a hero and heroine, and I’m quite excited about this book.
What inspired you to write historical romance?
I wrote it in honor of the first romances that I read. Most people have moved onward to contemporaries, but historicals still have their own unique characteristic of time traveling to another time and era far from our own life and worries. They’re great escape romances.
What do you derive the most inspiration from for your writing?
When I first started writing, other books were my inspiration. Then when I wrote, the fun of what would happen next kept me writing and enjoying my work. Of course, having readers who like my books inspires me now!
How does a story develop for you? Do you imagine a particular scene and build from there or do you work sequentially until a work is complete?
I know the beginning, the middle and the end of a story before I start to write. The rest is unknown but comes to me as I think about my plot and what will happen next. Strange as it seems, I always know the ending of each chapter before I write it since I try to end with a hook. Now what happens to my characters to get to the end of the chapter is the challenge.
How do you keep your ideas fresh and imaginative?
I so enjoy anything new and different I get excited and can’t wait to write it. Also, sharing it with my critique group and hearing their reaction encourages me.
Do you have a favorite character from one of your books that you might be interested in revisiting for a follow-up book?
I love all my books and would love to write sequels to all of them. If readers want one, just ask. In fact, I have a sequel to my first book, Miss McNeal’s Pirate, with the secondary character Beckett as the hero. He’s waiting for me to pull out the manuscript and polish it up for everyone to read.
We have all heard that becoming a published author takes time and dedication. What kept you motivated while waiting for your first story to be published?
I don’t know what you call the drive to be published. It doesn’t’ fit under one category but is a combination of determination, stubbornness, and eagerness? I think it’s a mixture of these characteristics plus the need to write that drives you forward. I know my day isn’t complete if I haven’t written.
To date, what has been the most rewarding aspect of your writing?
Having someone read my book and tell me it was great and then asking me when can they read the next one is a reward every author dreams about.
Per your website, you are an avid reader; do you have a particular author or style of book that you enjoy?
I love a slice of humor like in the Spenser series or those page-turners that James Patterson produces. But I have a very eclectic taste and can turn around and read a regency and find it irresistible.
We can also see on your website that your first e-book is set to be released. Is the anticipation with this release different from the anticipation of your first book?
Having a ebook was different because I’ve found tons of people who don’t know what a ebook is. They’ve all been receptive to the idea as readers but it’s been like spreading the news and being a disciple of a new technology.
Can we get a teaser for what you are working on right now? (grin)
I’m working on two manuscripts right now. One is getting the final touches to go to a publisher to be read with hopes of a sale. But to give you an idea of my latest work in progress here’s the major question plaguing the heroine:
Who killed Mrs. Christie and stuffed her in the jelly cabinet? Was it her Speed Date and the suspected mobster Eddie Ferrini? Eddie was also the former boss of her ex love, bad boy Will Boone.
Is there anything else you would like to share with us?
I hope you’ll give my books a try. I write both contemporary and historical so I’m sure you’ll find something you like!
