Nancy Henderson Interview

Today I am speaking with Nancy Henderson.

Hi Nancy! Welcome to Fallen Angel Reviews! Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to visit with us. The readers would love to hear something about Nancy Henderson.

Let me begin by saying that I had the opportunity to read, Man of Her Dreams, and found it to be thoroughly unforgettable.

Would you like to tell the readers about this incredible book?
Man of Her Dreams was my favorite book to write. It was just so much fun. Throughout the whole process, I kept asking myself “What if?” and that basically drove the entire plot as well as the characters.

What is your favorite genre to write when you are composing?
I love historical romance, but I’m also working on a paranormal contemporary series, which I’m having just as much fun with.

Do you have a hectic schedule that prohibits you from writing more than you would like?
Oh yes! Sigh…I work full time, so I usually write on my lunch hour and at night. I’m not a night owl by nature, but my schedule makes me one.

What would your readers be surprised to know about you?
How boring my life is. I love boring. I thrive on it. If life gets too crazy, I have a hard time thinking about writing.

What do you like most about your writing?
I love it when my characters surprise me. I might be in the shower or driving somewhere and the hero will whisper something to me, or sometimes shout something. It gives me goosebumps!

Do you get along well with your publisher and editors?
I do. My publisher is great, and the editors are so hard working and supportive.

Describe your idea of a romantic evening.
Talk. Open communication. When that happens between two people, anything is possible.

Are you a plot-driven or character-driven writer?
Definitely character driven. When I wrote Man of Her Dreams, I first had no idea what the plot was. I just knew something horrible had happened to Riley West, the hero, but it wasn’t long before he and the whole crew opened up and told me their stories.

Please share what a day in the life of Nancy Henderson is like.
Well, I get up at five every morning. I’ve done that for so long I don’t even need an alarm clock anymore. After feeding my dog and three cats, I fire up the coffeemaker, then head to the computer to take care of writing related business, etc. Then I’m off to work. I write on my lunch hour, usually, and then again around seven pm until who knows…all depends on my energy level and if my characters want to cooperate.

Do you have any upcoming projects that you would like to share?
Yes, I’m working on the third book in my Dying To Love You series, which are contemporary paranormal romances, all with “ghostly” heroes. I’m also working on a contemporary category romance with an ex-convict for a hero.

Have you ever written a screenplay or considered writing one?
I honestly haven’t. I don’t think I’d even know where to start. I am working on a non-fiction how-to writing book, though.

Have you ever suffered from Writers block? And if so, how do you deal with it when it happens?
I think my writer’s block is actually more laziness or just being plain old tired. When it happens, I usually can talk myself out of it by just being tough with myself. I think I’m pretty disciplined, which I’ve had to learn over the years. It wasn’t something that came overnight or something that came easy.

Do you have a website other than www.nancyhenderson.com?
Yes, I have a blog at www.nancyhenderson.blogspot.com
