Today I’m pleased to be interviewing author
Michelle Miles. Welcome to FAR
Michelle! Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to answer some questions for us today!
If you could meet any one person (past or present) and ask them only one question - Who would it be, and what would your question be?
I think I’d pick William Shakespeare and I’d ask him – where does he find inspiration?
How much of your personality and life experiences are in your writing?
A lot. Everything I write is based on what I know – or would like to know. I like the quirkiness of life, so I try to incorporate that into my writing.
What can you tell us about
The Adventures of Ransom & Fortune that will be released from Samhain?
Writing the serial again for Inara Press was wonderful. It’s a fast paced action/adventure story about a girl, a hit man and a time machine. Skye Ransom is on the run from a killer who wants her dead for her father’s technology. Dane Fortune is the hired killer after her – or is he?
As most of you know, Inara Press has shut its doors, but I was lucky enough to find a publisher for the serial. This time, it will be in book form out this winter with Samhain. The first book is entitled “A Bend In Time” and follows the love story of Skye and Dane. Stuck in the past, the two much set aside their differences and work together to get back home. It incorporates the entire first season of the serial, as well as season two. It’s a great ride you don’t want to miss.
What would you consider your most interesting quirk?
I hate nuts in my ice cream and candy, but I love chunky peanut butter. ;)
What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?
The characters tend to take over and tell me how to write their story. That’s when I’m totally in the zone and I find out lots of interesting tidbits about them.
Talk Dirty to Me is due to be released from Samhain Publishing in July. Could you give us a peek at what this story is about?
Claudia is a freelance writer by day – and a phone sex operator by night. She’s through with men, satisfying herself with her side business. Blake Marsh isn’t interested in long term relationships and blows off steam by calling the Talk Dirty To Me sex line. But when the two meet by total happenstance, sparks fly and they start a steamy affair. And neither one of them can keep their hands off each other! It’s a fun, sexy romp.
What do you consider when buying a book for your library?
I look for something that intrigues me, something that I won’t be able to put down. I also go with friend’s recommendations.
Do you have a favorite author or all-time favorite book and why is it your favorite?
My all-time favorite book is “The Forgotten Beasts of Eld” by Patricia A. McKillip. I read that years go when I was in high school. It’s the first book that really captured my imagination and made me want to write.
To you, what makes a great romance hero?
Strong, sexy alpha male who’s not afraid to go after what he wants!
What are some of your hobbies?
Who has time for hobbies? ;) Seriously, besides reading, I’m a mom with a sweet little boy. I love watching hockey and I’m also involved a weekly podcast show called The Collective You.
Do you have any special rituals to help you get in the mood to write?
Sometimes I just sit down and start writing, but other times I need to read what I’ve written before to get in the mood. If I can’t get going then, I usually edit to jumpstart the writing process. That usually works.
