Today I am speaking with
Sara Fitzgerald.
Hi
Sara! Allow me to welcome you to Fallen Angel Reviews! It is great to have you with us today. Thank you for taking time out of your busy day to answer questions for us. The readers would love to hear something about
Sara Fitzgerald.
I read your story,
Mine For Keeps, and really enjoyed it. I believe you have another book coming out in October. Would you like to share some tidbits about it with us today?
My next book is Just What the Doctor Ordered. October 2006
Elizabeth Lane needs a job fast in order to finish her last semester of school and head back to her small hometown tvao open her own medical clinic. However, she has no idea that in order to make her dream come true, she’ll have to work for the notorious Dr. Jess Miller. She has always been able to tackle the hogs at home, surely she can manage one cranky, sexy doctor, can’t she?
Romantic sparks fly the moment they meet, but intimate relationships are against the rules and Jess isn’t one to break the rules especially since he is going after a huge promotion. However, when they fly to Las Vegas for a medical conference—all bets are off and they might just lose more than money--much more--they might just lose their hearts forever. She could be just what the doctor ordered.
Excerpt
Just then a knock on her adjoining door jolted her out of her thoughts of
Jess. It couldn't have been an hour already. What was he doing
knocking at her door now?
She climbed off the bed and moved toward the door. "Yes?"
He knocked again. The door must be too thick for him to hear her. She
clicked the lock and opened it.
Good Lord. He wasn't dressed. He was just how she imagined,
except for a towel casually wrapped around his lean waist. Her breath
caught. He was gorgeous, beyond that. More like a Greek God.
"Elizabeth, are you okay?" Jess asked.
She nodded. "Of course, I wasn't expecting. . . to open the door to
you like this."
"Like what?" he asked, amused.
She felt herself blushing as she pointed to his towel. "Like that."
"Well," he said, smiling as his gaze moved down her. "You're in
the exact same attire as I am."
Good lord, he was right. She had nothing on except a towel. She
could die from embarrassment. This adjoining door was a very bad idea.
It could be dangerous. . .she might do something really stupid one of
these nights--like knock on it.
Are there any other works planned for future releases after this one?
I have a children’s book, Katrina the Caterpillar coming out in two weeks through Mightybook.com. I have three more books with Champagne; Just What the Doctor Ordered October 2006, Anything for Charity June 2007 and Yesterday’s Wish October 2007.
Why not tell the readers about a day in the life of
Sara Fitzgerald.
My life is a bit crazy at times:) I’m married to a wonderful man, Russ. I am just finishing up my master’s degree at the University of Utah in Social Work; so I’m pretty busy with schoolwork. I’m expecting our first baby in October, so that is crazy too. A typical day is getting up and going to school, study groups, homework, trying to squeeze in time with the husband, baby shopping and writing. Sometimes I take the dogs for a walk.
Is there anything you would change about your writing?
The only thing I would change is to have more time to write, and stick to a schedule.
What would you consider your favorite part of writing?
I really enjoy teaching creative writing classes and doing workshops at conferences. I love talking with other writers and helping them make their dreams come true.
After you put, ‘the end,’ do you miss your characters when you finish their tale?
To tell you the truth, most of the time I’m more than ready to move on to my next project. I know my characters will be happy, and I’ll see them in print, so it is easy to let go.
Tell us your reaction when you got your first contract.
I was so very excited. It was like a dream come true. I had to read the acceptance letter over and over. I called all of my family and friends. It was amazing.
Are you an organized person in your work area?
It doesn’t look organized, but I know where everything is :)
Is there a special character that is especially close to your heart?
My third book, Anything For Charity, coming out June 2007 the hero is my favorite. He is a billionaire who lost his beloved niece to cancer, ever since then he has coped with his sorrow by dressing up like a clown and doing shows at the local children’s hospital. He donates large sums of money to the hospital.
Did you have anyone in your life that inspired you to write your first book?
My first book was a historical that probably won’t see the light of day anytime soon. I was nineteen when I wrote it. I loved reading Jude Deveraux. It was a hard time in my life and writing that book was an escape from the loneliness and pain that I was going through.
What is your perfect vacation?
My husband and I love to go to Las Vegas (setting for Just What the Doctor Ordered). I love to shop, swim, eat good food and sight see.
Do you have a favorite song that you could listen to over and over again?
I like country music. Can’t think of a favorite song.
Do you like to outline your stories or just go with the flow?
I have a fairly good idea how I want the story to go and then I plan several scenes ahead of time. Sometimes my characters do something unexpected and then it is back to the drawing board.
Have you ever written a screenplay? Or thought of it?
No. But I have thought about it :) I think it would be a lot of hard work, but really fun too.
For Fun: Who is your favorite actor?
Julia Roberts. She is just the kind of heroine I would love to see in my stories.
When I was searching for a website, I found this,
http://www.sarafitzgerald.com/sarahome/homex.html Do you have another one that you would like to share at this time?
