Hi
Georgia! Welcome to Fallen Angel Reviews! Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to visit with us.
Your first published story,
The Running Mate, is scheduled for release on March 24, 2006. This story is a futuristic romance. Does is included any paranormal aspects such as shape-shifting abilities or is it a straight futuristic?
It's a straight futuristic. The story is more character driven than special effects. I think that let's the reader concentrate more on the development of the relationship
I know that I love a futuristic story so I am looking forward to reading it myself. Can you give us readers a brief description or blurb for
The Running Mate?
Leaving home to explore the galaxy hasn't exactly gone the way Britta expected. Stranded at an isolated port on a remote mining planet with no hope of getting a job anytime soon, she thought things just couldn’t get any worse. But when a bar fight lands her at the feet of Tork Ro'den her days of running across the galaxy are about to be curtailed.
He had no idea that finding her would be easier than keeping her.
Elated to have found his mate, Tork swears to do everything in his power to keep and protect her. He has no idea it will involve tangling with bounty hunters, the most feared arms dealer in the galaxy and finally Britta herself. Unwilling to give her up, Tork needs to find a way to convince her that all she’s been looking for is right in his arms.
As a first time published author, what inspired you to try you hand at writing? What made you finally submit a manuscript?
After reading my 200th ebook I thought that it might be something I would like to try and I started working on a manuscript.
Last year I fell ill and was in the hospital for a few days. After that I got a big case of Carpe Diem and just decided to revise my work and not give up.
What has been the most surprising aspect in getting your story published?
Just how supportive everyone has been. From friends and family to the ladies on various Yahoo groups, people have been amazing. Not to mention the staff at 4 Girls Publishing. Edith and the staff there are great and really helpful.
Do you plan to write a series or only individual stand alone stories?
The Running Mate can stand alone. I have an outline completed for a sequel but I think that will depend on reader demand. If people like the story and want a sequel then I'll try to come up with one that they'll love as much as the first.
Is there another genre you would like to write? What is your favorite genre to read?
Shape shifter stories are something I'm trying my hand at right now. I love paranormals and futuristics, there are endless possibilities with those genres.
Do you have any special rituals to help you get in the mood to write?
Pajamas. I do my best work in my pajamas.
Since everybody needs a break, even when doing something they love, how do you like to spend your time when you are not writing?
I love to cook. I have a great collection of cookbooks from all over the world and I like to experiment with new foods. For me it's a creative endeavor, and when I'm cooking I'm not thinking about anything else.
Can you tell fans something about you they would never guess?
I like to do impressions of strange characters from sci fi movies.
Of all things you have accomplished, is there one accomplishment you are most proud of?
Finally crossing something off of my 10 Things To Do Before I Die list.
Can you tell us who your favorite character in television or film is? What it is about that character that makes him/her you’re favorite?
Princess Leia Organa, I'm a hopeless geek and I love Star Wars. Princess Leia is a kick ass kinda babe. From the very beginning she puts up a fight for what she believes in no matter what the cost. I like that about her.
How do you pick what to name your book or the characters?
Book names take forever. The Running Mate went through 4 different names. The same thing happens with the characters. I actually have a list of names that I made up one night and I just pick them off the list.
Now that spring is upon us, do you have any special plans for the warmer weather?
The Beach. I'm sick of gray skies.
Do you have any works “in progress” or waiting release that you can tell us about? (grin)
I have a shape shifter novel nearing completion and I'm working on a series of 3 short stories . They are futuristics that center around the three women who are best friends.
Is there anything else you would like to share with us?
If anyone wants to keep up with what I'm working on they can check out my blog www.georgiathorne.blogspot.com. There's also a link there to my Yahoo group. I hope you all enjoy The Running Mate
