Suprina Frazier Interview

Today I am speaking with Suprina Frazier.

Hi Suprina! And welcome to Fallen Angel Reviews! It is great to have you with us today. Thank you for taking time out of your busy day to answer questions for us. The readers would love to hear something about Suprina Frazier.
Hello, Linda. I’m honored to be here today. Thanks for inviting me.

Suprina is such a lovely name. I don’t believe I have seen it before.
You probably haven’t since it is so rare. I used to think I was the only Suprina on the planet until the internet came out and burst my bubble. After a hearty search, I soon realized that there ‘were’ more Suprinas out there, albeit not a lot of them.

Why don’t you tell us a little something about the Mocha Interlude Collection?
It is a collection of contemporary romance novels that are cleverly threaded throughout with inspirational themes and delightful nuggets of truth. One bonus feature is that they are all written with at least one person of color as a main character.

How did you get your start in writing? Is it something that you always desired to do? Why not begin by telling us your one moment that said ‘hmmmm’ that is what I want to do?
Since my ‘hmmmm’ moment didn’t occur right away, I guess I should start even farther back in time.

Always an avid reader, my start in writing occurred around 1999. At first it was a form of therapy while I was recovering from a life-altering illness. Eventually it became a passion. My ‘hmmmm’ moment came after receiving a barrage of positive responses from various articles I’d written free lance.

How has being published changed your life?
It has opened up a whole new world to me. I’ve met so many wonderful, unforgettable people and had so many wonderful experiences that I will always look back on this time in my life and smile with fondness.

Do you do any self-promoting?
Yes, yes, yes! Self-promoting is on its way to becoming my middle name. LOL.

Do you have an agent or thought of getting one?
I would love an agent, but I just haven’t found a good fit yet. I’m still in the market for one. Hopefully, who I’m searching for is also searching for me and we will meet very soon.

What makes a great book to you?
A good book is a book that keeps me interested all the way to the end. A GREAT book is one that won’t allow me to go to sleep until I’ve reached the end! One that I will return to time and time again even after I’ve flipped the last page. I strive to write those kinds of books.

What is the best advice that anyone ever gave you?
A faithful reader gave me the best advice yet during a time when I was teetering between writing cookie-cutter books in order to make my work more broadly accepted and writing books from the heart where the fan base is usually built more slowly.

She said, “You know what God has called you to do, walk in it! without wavering, side stepping or back tracking because it's helping somebody come up and come out. It's giving hope to the hopeless and wind to the winded.”

After that piece of advice, I embraced the fact that if I was going to continue in this publishing world, then I had to do it while being ‘me’.

Do you have a character that is especially close to your heart?
Awww…that’s a hard one! I have so many favorite characters, but if I have to choose one then it would have to be Eve from Beautiful…Tangled Roots. She was a courageous slave woman from my very first epic and she made me cry the most while I was writing her story.

Do you have any other hobbies besides writing that you would like to share with everyone?
My usual hobbies are, of course reading, writing poems, doing crossword puzzles, surfing the net, and watching classic movies with my husband. Lately, I’ve been thinking about picking up piano playing again. I’ll have to let you know how that turns out. LOL.

Do you have a website other than www.mochainterlude.bravehost.com that you would like to share with your readers?
Yes! My blog can be found at: www.mochainterlude.blogspot.com It is a bit more laid back than my website and many exciting things go on there.

If you found yourself stranded on a desert island, what things do you think you could survive without?
I could definitely survive without TV and radio since I don’t engage in them a whole lot anyway. But books…now those would most certainly have to be on that island. LOL.

For Fun: What is your favorite comfort food, Suprina? An exciting place that you would love to visit? And your favorite actor/actress?
My favorite comfort food is anything from a takeout or delivery bag. My favorite actor is currently Terrence Howard. Favorite actress is Gabrielle Union.

As for an exciting place that I would love to visit, it would have to be Hawaii. Ask me again in six months and that might change. LOL. There’s so much of the world I want to see.

Thank you so much for sharing time with us today, Suprina. Anyone interested in reading more about Suprina and her marvelous books, please visit her website to read more about her great works. It has been a pleasure Suprina, and I wish you the best with your writing.
Thank you, Linda. And for those readers who mention that they saw this interview on Fallen Angel, my usual 2 for 1 Friday special is extended to them ‘any’ day of the week.
