Today I am speaking with
Cathryn Fox.
Hi
Cathryn! And welcome to Fallen Angel Reviews! It is great to have you with us today. Thank you for taking time out of your busy day to answer questions for us. The readers would love to hear something about
Cathryn Fox.
Cathryn, I visited your site and love the little lipstick and shoe pics when you enter your page. Why don't we begin by telling us about your latest book?
Hi Linda, thanks for having me here. I just love the lipstick and shoe, too. My latest release is Web of Desire, Ellora's Cave. It's a sweet story about lost love and reunited lovers.
What can we expect from you in the future?
I have a trilogy coming out with Avon Red. The name of the game is Pleasure...Pleasure Games. The first story is Pleasure Control, November 2006. The second story is Pleasure Prolonged, January 2007 and the third story, Pleasure Exchange, winter 2007 release.
Do you mind readers contacting you?
I LOVE when readers contact me. I've made some lovely friends this way.
Do you know how many readers/fans contact you?
I usually receive a couple of emails a week from readers and they always make my day!
Do your fans' comments and letters influence you in any way?
Almost all of the comments have been positive so it makes me feel really good about what I do, knowing my work has touched people in some way.
Do you have a favorite comment or question from a reader?
One lovely reader emailed and told me Unleashed was the best book she'd ever read. I smiled for days after that.
How much of your personality and life experiences are in your writing?
I like to have fun, crack sarcastic jokes, and laugh so I think my personality definitely comes through in the humorous contemporaries for Avon Red. Also, my son is a pretty funny guy and a lot of times he'll say things that I use in my books.
When did you first think about writing and what prompted you to submit your first manuscript?
Many, many years ago while living up north, I read day and night. When I ran out of books to read I decided to try my hand at writing. Oh boy, it was pretty horrible. Shortly after that I got pregnant, so I put the writing on hold until my children started school. Then I dove into it full force, joined RWA and my local chapter and treated it like a full time job.
Generally, how long does it take you to write a book?
This depends on the size book. For a novella, a couple of months. For a single title, approximately six months.
Do you have a set schedule for writing or do you just go with the flow?
I do have a schedule. After I get the kids off to school in the morning, I go to work...usually in my pajamas. Like right now :)). I usually read over what I wrote the day before, tweak it a bit, and then I try for 5 new pages a day. Sometimes I go beyond, sometimes I go less. Depending on how hard the scene is that I'm working on.
What is your writing routine once you start a book?
I try to only do one book at a time, so I set a schedule of 5 pages a day until the book is complete.
What about your family, do they know not to bother you when you are writing - or are there constant interruptions?
I write when the kids are at school but there are times when I have promotional work, edits that need to be done, etc and I need to work weekends or evenings. I usually leave my office door open and there are interruptions but that's okay, before I know it my kids will be off to university and I'll be missing the interruptions.
What do you do to relax and recharge your batteries? Your secret indulgence?
I LOVE movies. All movies. This is how I wind down at night with my husband and once a week, we do family movie night.
