All Romance eBooks Interview

Fallen Angel Reviews would like to welcome All Romance eBooks. ARe is a new outlet, currently featuring 16 publishers and counting, that facilitates publishers getting their product out to readers.

Jaymi: We've been hearing a lot about All Romance eBooks ... You're a romance distribution site, right?

Lori: Yes, All Romance eBooks (ARe) will be opening our doors on November 1, 2006 and exclusively sell romance novels.

Jaymi: I love your slogan. "Bringing you all the romance you need from all the publishers you love." What publishers have committed to selling their books through ARe?

Barb: The list is growing daily, which is something that we're very excited about. Right now we have Aphrodite Unlaced, Black Velvet Seductions, BooksForABuck, Champagne Books, eXtasy Books, Freya's Bower, Linden Bay Romance, Liquid Silver Books, loveyoudivine, Mardi Gras Publishing, Midnight Showcase, Phaze Books, Samhain Publishing, Siren Publishing, Uncial Press, Writers Exchange E-Publishing, Write Words, Inc., and Zumaya Publications.

Jaymi: What made you decide to do this? As a reader, I can tell you that this is a dream come true!

Lori: Really? It is for us, too! Barb and I are readers of romance in addition to being publishers. For the past couple years, we've been keeping track of the things we like and dislike about various on-line bookstores and distribution sites. ARe is really our dream site. We wanted to create a place where readers could easily find what they want–everything from inspirationals to erotica. And we also wanted to offer a place where publishers benefit from the exposure of an expanded catalogue. Our goal was all publishers, all sub-genres, all levels of sensuality. Basically, All Romance eBooks.

Jaymi: I have to ask how on earth did you convinced all of those publishers to agree to do this?

Barb: All Romance eBooks was a carefully planned endeavor that filled a niche in the industry. We did quite a bit of market research and developed a solid business plan that included the things we knew as publishers would be important. After securing funded and working to design the site, we then scheduled presentations to show publishers all the advantages that ARe will offer customers and all the benefits that signing on would bring to publishers and their authors. We made sure our uploading processes are streamlined, offered some new reporting enhancements, and made sure to give the publisher control over their pricing to help them realize maximum profits. In addition, we've developed an aggressive marketing plan to bring in both current romance buyers and new customers. We've invested heavily in marketing and technology. We believe in this concept, and feel it will benefit everyone involved...maybe our enthusiasm is contagious!

Jaymi: I think that it's more than that! When you showed me the site last night my first thought was, "Oooo, pretty!" But then I got to see how it all worked...the sorting, the ratings, the library where I have access to my books all the time...very impressive.

Barb: Oh, thank you! We were lucky to find some very gifted people who have worked on the development of ARe. Mollie Kellogg, a San Diego artist, did all of the design work and John Jacks with CMSgeeks did all of the programming and coding.

Jaymi: If ARe was a person, how would you describe her?

Lori: In addition to smart and pretty? Hmmm....She’s the type of woman that makes heads turn when she walks into the room because she exudes confidence and passion. She’s sexy, of course, but not because she’s overt about it, or because she tries hard to project an image of sexuality; she's sexy because she’s comfortable with who she is. She’s not shy about asking for what she wants. And she's not afraid to go after it, either. She can go from jeans and a t-shirt to a ball gown, from dropping off the kids for soccer, to the board room, to the bedroom. She buys the best presents, because she knows what you want. Her friends are fiercely loyal.

Jaymi: Can I be her? LOL!

Barb: No, I'm her!

Lori: I thought I was her?

Jaymi: No fighting, ladies. Tell me about the commercial? (www.allromanceebooks.com/ARe.wmv)? It's going to be showing in movie theaters?

Lori: In mid-Dec to mid-Jan it will be showing in theaters in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Milwaukee, Houston, and New York.

Barb: We're aiming at a variety of markets in hopes of introducing new folks to eBooks. For instance, in February we'll be launching a campaign in on-line college newspapers.

Jaymi: What do you have planned for spring?

Barb: We'll be attending EPICON in March and then in April will be at RT.

Jaymi: Me, too! I'm looking forward to it already.

Lori: We are, too. It'll be a great opportunity to meet some of the folks that we're doing business with face-to-face, both publishers and customers. We're already busy working on our promotion plan.

Barb: Speaking of...

Jaymi: Okay, time to let you ladies get back to work!

All Romance eBooks is an electronic distribution site that is opening next week. They will also have links to print novels. ARe will be offering readers a "Buy 10, get 1 free" reward program and will be publishing a weekly newsletter that will keep readers up-to-date on new releases and offer them free reads and industry interviews.
