Today I’m pleased to be interviewing author
Aurelia Abbot who also writes as
Jo Travis. Welcome to FAR! Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to answer some questions for us today!
To start, can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Certainly! I live in the shadow of the Appalachian Mountains with my husband, son and mother-in-law. I've been writing off and on for almost 12 years though I've only gotten serious about writing within the last year.
Could you tell readers a little bit about your current Forbidden Publications release,
Moment of Chance?
Moment of Chance is a futuristic short story about a soldier and an almost queen. I began writing this in 2003 but put it away because I couldn't completely describe the world of Simeon and Raina. When I pulled the story from underneath my bed in March, I knew exactly how to improve what I'd written so many years ago.
Has being published changed you at all? If so, how?
I pay attention to the e-publishing market a bit more. I visit other e-publishers and scope out their websites, covers, etc. Other than that, I'm still me!
How did you celebrate selling
Moment of Chance?
My son was taking a nap so I jumped around the house as quietly as I could. When my husband came home, I told him too!
I know you write erotic romance and paranormal romance as
Aurelia Abbott. Is there any other genre you would like to try?
I'd like to finish the historical series that I began about 15 years ago. I'm also interested in sweeter romances. For now though, I hope the paranormal ideas don't stop!
Where do you get the inspiration for your stories?
Usually, inspiration comes from a snippet of something else, whether that be a tv show, a movie, or a line from a book I've recently read. I try not to focus too much on the planning of a story and let the characters go where they will.
What would you like to accomplish with your writing career?
To entertain others (and myself). Because I tend to write short (novellas and short stories), I'm not holding my breath to be noticed by a NYC publisher. I enjoy writing and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible.
Do you have any bad writing habits?
When I'm writing on a computer, I have the bad habit of surfing blogs or some of my favorite writing sites. I'd much rather write longhand far, far away from the computer screen and keyboard.
Was there any one person or event in your life that finally inspired you to sit down and write your first book?
Not necessarily. I've always written but I've never been very serious about it. May 1, 2005, I finally became serious.
Who are your favorite authors? Who inspires you?
I love Gena Showalter. She is one of the authors I automatically buy, whether I'm able to get to the book right away. I'm also a big fan of JR Ward.
Is there anything else you would like to share with your readers today?
I have several upcoming releases, all in the paranormal genre. Please visit my website www.aurelia-abbot.com for more information. You can also catch me through my blog or at MySpace. Thanks so much to FAR for the interview!!!!!!
Thank you so much
