Rene Walden Interview

Hello Rene and welcome to Fallen Angels Reviews. Your readers are curious to learn more about Rene Walden.
Hi Linda. Thank you so much for having me.

If we were to follow you for a day, what kind of day would we find in the life of Rene Walden?
Well my days are long, that’s for sure, and very hectic. I work full time from home on my writing and my e-publishing company, Forbidden Publications. I have a schedule I try to follow, so it would depend on what day I was being followed as to what I was doing on that day. It could be anything from reading submissions to editing or building web pages.

Describe your work area where you enjoy composing?
My work area is in a section of my living room. I have a mini office set up in there. Because of the long hours I put in, being in the living room lets me talk and interact with my family. I’m very particular about my work area and don’t want folks messing with my stuff. My desk may appear cluttered to others, but I have my own method to my mess.

Why not tell us about your great books and upcoming projects?
I have two books that are available now. All in a Day’s Work, which is part of the Red Silk Diaries, volume 1 at Silk’s Vault Publishing and Sunday’s Interlude at Ocean Mist Press.

I’m currently working on three other titles.

The Hunt is a look into the lives of a couple as they explore the fem dom lifestyle. This will be coming soon from Forbidden Publications.

Temptations is a paranormal about a young princess who’s come from another dimension to find her mate.

Forbidden Dreams is a work that was previously released from Silk’s Vault that I’m reworking and will be looking for a new home in the near future.

Do you have any special rituals to help you get in the mood to write?
Not really. My only requirement for writing is that it has to be really quiet. The television or music messes up my focus. I either write during the day when I’m home alone or late in the middle of the night.

Where do you come up with the names for your books and characters?
My characters usually come to me either just in my head or sometimes in dreams, just whatever. It really just depends. Usually I get the titles as I’m writing the story, but occasionally I get the title at the same time I get the characters.

Among your own books, have you a favorite book? Favorite hero or heroine?
My favorite heroine is Elanie from my book Forbidden Dreams. She’s a strong, independent woman. Several of my characters have her traits.

Do you have any bad writing habits?
I have all sorts of bad habits. LOL I think one of the most irritating is that rather than writing every day, I tend to only write when the muse hits me. So that means a lot of time can pass without me actively writing.

Has being published changed you at all?
I guess the only way that it has changed me is the way I look at my own writing. As I’ve learned more and more about the craft of writing, my writing has improved. I try to read articles about writing every day.

What type of books would we find on your bookshelf?
I do very little pleasure reading, but you can find an occasional novel on my bookshelf. Mostly, though, you’ll find self-help and how to’s.

How do you relax?
I like spending time with my family. Just hanging out, watching a movie or big family dinners.

If you could go back in time, what time and place would you enjoy visiting and is there anything you would change?
If I could go back in time, I’d go back to when I was still in high school and pursue my dream to write back then instead of the career path I chose.

What really draws your attention to a good book?
I’m a big cover fan. A really unique cover will draw my attention, then the back blurb can hook me. Usually if the blurb doesn’t grab me, I won’t buy the book.

What would the readers be surprised to learn about you?
Hmmmm, I think the one thing that would surprise readers of my work is that I spent fourteen years working in the early childhood field. Nine of which were spent as a preschool teacher.

For Fun: Which do you enjoy best, soothing bubble baths or hot showers?
I’m a hot shower fan.

You have quite an interesting website. I love the part, it’s all about attitude. Do you have a website other than www.renewalden.com that you would like to share with your readers?
The only other website I have is for Forbidden Publications. The website url is www.forbiddenpublications.com

Thank you so much for spending time with us today, Rene. It has been a pleasure Rene.
Thank you for having me.
