Today I am speaking with
Sage Burnett. Hello
Sage, so good to have you with us at Fallen Angel Reviews. The readers would love to hear something about
Sage Burnett.
Sage, I notice that you also write as
Patricia Parkinson. Do you find it difficult to keep the two identities apart?
Hi Linda. How are you? Patricia Parkinson is my real name. My first book with Samhain, DEAD OF WINTER, contemporary romantic suspense, is sensual romance. Then I did a ninety degree turn and starting writing erotic romances and picked my pen name, (Sage Burnett) for those stories. At first it was confusing because I wasn't used to being called Sage. Hopefully, in the future I will have another book out under my real name.
I love the slogan on your website, romance, Montana style. Why not tell us about
Karly’s Drifter – Book 2 – Rodeo Cowboy Series, and any other latest release.
KARLY'S DRIFTER, BOOK 2 OF RODEO COWBOY SERIES,Siren Publishing, is a favorite of mine. It's contemporary erotic romance, but it's much more than that. Hawk Rivers is hiding something from Karly Jackson, but she doesn't care because she falls for him instantly. Hawk is the strong, silent tortured hero, while Karly is independent, sassy, and smart. I feel it's a touching love story with lots of conflict happening for Karly and Hawk on their journey.
MELANIE'S PROTECTOR, BOOK 1 OF RODEO COWBOY SERIES is erotic contemporary suspense. Steve and Melanie heat up the pages in this fast paced book.
GUNPOINT,Mardi Gras Publishing,Satin Rouge Line, Romantic Contemporary Suspense is another fast paced romantic suspense. Hawk and Emma meet under unusual circumstances and rush to find two murderers.
Why not tell us what a day is like in the life of
Sage Burnett?
Nobody yawn, okay? lol. I start my day off with a quick breakfast and a mile walk with my black lab, Madison. After that I play around on the Internet for awhile, before I start writing or editing as the case may be. I'm a morning person, so I do my best work then.
Would you like to tell us about your upcoming projects?
JOSE'S HEARTBREAKER, BOOK 3 OF RODEO COWBOY SERIES will be released October 1 from Siren Publishing. This is the final book in the series. Readers will meet Josie and Rex. It's erotic contemporary, on the light and breezy side, and it was tons of fun to write.
COWBOY BLUES Coming October 1 from Mardi Gras Publishing. It’s a sizzling romantic contemporary. I loved writing Matt and Laura's story. It was one of those books that just flowed.
What makes a great book to you?
Hands down, the characters. I love being able to feel close to or relate to the main characters in books. I'm a sucker for quirky characters. I like writing quirky characters and reading about them.
Do you have a character that is especially close to your heart?
I would have to say Kate Madison, the heroine, from DEAD OF WINTER. She's strong, gutsy, independent, fiercely loyal, and not without flaws. One reviewer said she was a little on brusque side which she truly was. She is the perfect match for the hero, Sheriff Steve Lambert. They go toe to toe on more than one occasion in the story.
What was the first story you ever wrote?
Back in the third grade I wrote a play for my class. And our class presented the play and I got to be the director. lol
While writing, how does the story develop for you? Do you go from start to finish or create scenes as they come to you?
I'm a linear writer. I start at word one, page one and write to the bitter end. Then I go back and edit as many times as needed.
Do you get along well with your editors?
Oh, yes. I have a great deal of respect for editors. Every suggestion an editor makes, I take to heart. Rarely do I disagree with their suggested changes because they are usually right.
Do you have an agent or considered getting one?
I do not have an agent at this time, but it's an option I consider frequently.
Sage, what is the best thing you love about your job of writing?
Living in a make believe world. I love creating characters, settings, plot lines, conflict. As a fiction writer I have the pleasure of creating my very own, unique story world.
Do you have other hobbies that you enjoy?
I'm an avid reader and I love the outdoors. Camping, hiking.
What do you do to relax?
It seems like I'm too busy these days for relaxing, but I love reading a good book, or watching a video in the evening.
You are planning the “perfect” romantic evening? You can do anything you wish. Is there food involved? Music? The stars are yours...
I would pick a cozy cabin by a beautiful Montana lake. My hero would barbecue thick steaks for dinner. Afterwards, we would take a canoe ride on the pristine lake. It would be quiet and peaceful, just the two of us enjoying each other and nature.
Do you have a website other than
www.patriciaparkinson.com that you would like to share with your readers?
www.myspace.com/rodeocowboys
Just for Fun: You are on a tropical paradise stranded, who would you wish to be with you?
Kurt Russell. Sorry, Goldie, can I have him for just one night? Pretty please?
Hot showers or soothing bubble baths?
Hot showers.
Your favorite comfort food?
Candy. My comfort ford of choice is anything chocolate. What can I say? I'm a chocoholic.
Sage, thanks so much for sharing time with us. I have enjoyed meeting you.
Linda, thanks so much for this fun and wonderful interview. Your questions were fantastic and I enjoyed every minute of it.
