Rhonda Jackson Joseph Interview

Today I am speaking with Rhonda Jackson Joseph.

Good Morning Rhonda, thank you for taking time to speak to Fallen Angel Reviews today.
Thank you, Linda, for talking with me today.

I saw on your website that you enjoy writing, and fishing. I love those, too. Romance and horror are your favorites, and who doesn’t love a great romance, not to mention a great horror story. I’m anxious to hear about Call It What You Want, could you share something about that release with us today?
Call it What You Want is the love story of Cishawn and Tonzell. Both are up and coming business owners, and they both want to avoid a committed relationship. They each learn a different lesson when they realize they can’t avoid being with one another--she learns that it’s okay to need someone and in doing so you don’t have to lose yourself. He learns that sometimes you have to give yourself over to love even when you don’t think you’re completely financially ready.

Do you have to do much research in your writing?
I’ve been lucky up to now that my stories are all loosely based on things I have seen and people I’ve observed. When you have as many colorful characters in your life as I do, you never run out of fuel for the fire.

Do you get along well with your publisher?
I get along wonderfully with my publisher, because I started the publishing company myself!

How much of your personality and life experiences are in your writing?
Much of it is based on my life experiences and personality. Of course, names, dates and other identifying details have been changed. In many cases, all the events may not be real, but they could have been.

If a reporter were to insist upon taking a tour of your life one day, what would they see in the day of Rhonda?
The reporter would probably run away, tearing his/her hair out. I have four children, aged one year, two years, four years, and thirteen years. After I get the oldest two off to school in the mornings, which is a circus in itself, I spend the rest of the morning chasing behind the two smallest ones. If I can distract them for a moment, I make a couple of business calls, or answer a few e-mails. This is between spats over sippy cups and numerous clothes changes because my two year old decides she, nor her brother, should wear the clothes I’ve put on them. They usually get down for a nap around noon, and I do some writing. Then the other two come home and we do homework and dinner. My husband often works late, but when he arrives, there are baths to be given and little ones to tuck into bed. I might settle down to do a little more writing when they all are down, but many times I just have a cup of tea and go down myself.

What kind of books would we find on your bookshelves?
I read a little of everything, but in my current stack to be read are titles by Brandon Massey (horror/suspense), Coleen Thompson (romantic suspense), and a romance anthology with Gwyneth Bolton.

When is your best time of the day to write?
The best time is when the little ones are down for a nap. Even if it’s only a short one, I’m able to get so much done then.

Do story ideas come easily for you?
They do--I have so many colorful characters in my life, I feel like I’ll never run out of things to write. There’s always someone who something crazy happens to, and I’ll say, "Hey, what if this happened instead of that?" and we’re off.

Do you have any pet peeves?
I do. I hate it when people ask questions that are easily answered otherwise, like, "Where are my socks?" and the socks are right in plain sight. I guess it’s obvious I have a teen at home!

For Fun: Name the best appliance ever created?
The best appliance ever is the microwave. I have been saved many a night from slaving in the kitchen by the assorted microwave dinners available nowadays.

What is your all time favorite food that you hate going without?
I have a terrible addiction to cookies. Any and all kinds. I just have to have them.

Do you have another website than http://www.myspace.com/rhondajj that you would like to share with your readers, like a blog or links to your books?
Yes, my official website is www.rhondajacksonjoseph.com.

Rhonda, I have enjoyed our talk and thank you for taking time to share some insight with us about Rhonda Jackson Joseph. I wish you the best in your writing endeavor with all your books.
Thank you, again, Linda. All the best to you, too.
