Samara King Interview

Let’s get comfortable and help me to welcome Samara King to Fallen Angel Reviews. Welcome Samara and thank you for joining me today.

While checking out your website I noticed you’ve recently changed pen names. You’re already well established as author Anisa Damien, what prompted the name change?
Thanks for having me Rachel. Well, the name change came at a time when I myself was going through a life change, a divorce. I wanted a new start and though I was established under my pseudonym, Anisa Damien, I felt a change would be wonderful and it has been.

Will you continue to write as Anisa Damien?
At the time being, no, but I’ll never say never. :-)

What do you find most frustrating about writing under a pen name? What do you enjoy most about it?
I haven’t really found anything frustrating about writing under a pen name as I believe it allows me to slip into a different persona, like a diva. LOL. It’s fun!

Tell us a little about your chosen genre and what you enjoy most about writing it?
I write Multicultural Erotic Romance, which means I write Interracial, African American romance and my characters can and are different nationalities. I love the variety, which I’ve always heard is the spice of life!

How much time would you spend on writing in a day?
Not as much as I would like to, but I try to go for an hour or two a day. I’ve recently switched to writing in snippets of time due to time constraints.

Do your characters ever take over you life? Do you live with them twenty-four hours a day or do they switch off with your computer?
I think in some respect or another, my characters seem to always be with me. I’m one of those writers who often receives flashes of dialogues or scenes or even characters at any time. So, yes – they take over at will. LOL.

What would be the best part of being an author?
The act of creating is wonderful and being able to take readers on a journey. A very awesome thing.

What would be the worst?
The balancing it takes for a writing career and family life. It’s hard and sometimes I’m out of balance but each day gets a bit better :-)

You’ve told us some things about your writing, now tell us a little about yourself. I see on your website you’re a bit of a thrill seeker, what are some of the most thrilling things you’ve done?
LOL. Well…let’s see, does having a dance show-down with a cheating ex count? LOL. (I won by the way)

What are some of the things you haven’t but want to?
I’d like to try to be a TV host (for a day) since I love to gab.

What is your ideal spoil Samara day?
Eating popcorn (I’m a fanatic), watching old movies, dressed in my comfy sweats and I have to have chocolate somewhere. LOL.

If you could do anything, be anything or anyone, where and what would it be?
I want to be me and be the BEST me I can be.

Back to your books, which are your favorites and why? And no you can’t say all of them, pick two.
I’d have to say Wild Impulses, my first eBook, which will be republished in 2008 by Cobblestone Press and Pulse are my favorites. I think those two projects were parts of my soul, when I finished each of them, I cried. That’s when you know, you’ve been touched by your own work, words. The characters were very much a part of me.

What books are in your plans for the next twelve months?
The Hoodoo You Do, Fanged…and Single and Scarlet Ties: Tamed (Changeling Press)

Wild Impulses, Cobblestone Press

And several novellas in the works.
