Rosemarie Piemonte Interview

This morning I have the privilege of speaking to Rosemarie Piemonte. Hello Rosemarie and welcome to Fallen Angel Reviews.

I read Falling Roses: The Years Between and the one before it. The books were great. And Fallen Angel Reviews gave Falling Roses a recommended read. Would you like to tell us a little about your current release?
Hi Linda. Thank you for having me. My current release is Falling Roses: The Years Between. It’s the sequel to my first romantic thriller novel entitled Falling Roses. Years begins where Gabrielle Ravolie and her husband John were abducted by the mob, and buried alive in a wooden box on the shore of Long Island Sound. Gabrielle had been injected with Claycondine, which is used to fake one’s death. John lived through the being buried alive, but Gabrielle ends up dying in the hospital, but not really. The mob abducted her. A few days later, she awoke in a motel room not knowing who she was and what she was doing there. She was arrested for prostitution and was bailed out by a man who called himself her father (mob related). Seven months later, her so-called parents die in a plane crash, which leaves her alone, still not knowing who she truly is, with no friends, no money, nothing. She then meets Michael London who takes her to a hypnotist, not knowing that the mob was following close behind them. While Gabrielle is attempting to retrieve her memory, she’s injected with another dose of Claycondine, which leads her into a catatonic state. Michael just couldn’t take care of her and takes her to a psychiatric hospital.

Twelve years after Gabrielle’s death, her daughter (Jackie) with her vocational class end up visiting the psychiatric hospital. Jackie sees this woman named Kathryn Morris who looks like her mother. Jackie and her half-brother Robbie kidnap this woman. Of course, the mob finds out John knows that Gabrielle is alive now and more craziness occurs. As I like to say, expect the unexpected. The Years Between is romance, drama, action, secret baby, a few love triangles, mystery. I think it has everything but sci-fi. There are no aliens or shape shifters, but there is a Halloween chapter if that counts.

What would you classify as your best genre to read?
Romance. Romance has so many sub genres. Romance can be a romantic suspense, romantic thriller, romantic mystery. It can be filled with all elements, in which a reader loves to read. And a writer, like myself loves to write.

When did you decide you wanted to be a writer?
When I was in high school. These characters came to life in my head and I wanted to show and tell their story. I wanted other people to see what I was seeing.

Is there anything special you do to get you in the ambiance to write?
I see these movies in my head, especially when I’m driving, it seems. On long car rides. This perhaps is dangerous, but it happens to me. And then I think back to what I saw and write it. Or, if I’m sitting in a quiet place like the forest preserve, I pull out my pen and paper and a movie about anything that’s happening to my characters may just begin in my head and I write it all down. Sometimes I have to write with my eyes closed. It’s easier at home, because I can close my eyes and type what I’m seeing at the same time.

Do you have a hard time coming up with names for your characters?
No, not at all. It’s funny, because I don’t have to think of a name it just pops into my head and I say, okay that’s what his or her name is. It is strange sometimes because in The Years Between, I have two Michael’s. Gabrielle’s father is named Michael and the man that fell in love with her when she thinks her name is Katie is also Michael. It just happened that way.

If you could visit with anyone for a day, living or dead who would you choose?
For a whole day? I would choose someone who would make me laugh. Someone who I know that we would enjoy one another’s company.

Do you have a favorite author?
VC Andrews. She inspired me when I was younger to write the way I do. With twists and turns and craziness.

How do you relax when you are not composing?
Writing is my relaxation. I like to be pulled into a far off place and when I’m so involved in a daydream, I have no idea what is going on around me. My children could be killing each other and I wouldn’t even know it. Also, by doing website work. I really enjoy creating pages and doing things differently on my website. I like change.

What really draws your attention to a good book?
The first chapter. I have a real hard time getting into a book if the first chapter doesn’t have something crazy or interesting enough to keep me hooked. It has to be different. Also too, if there are words that I don’t use in my normal vocabulary I can’t get hooked either. If I have to have a thesaurus at my bedside to read the book, I’m not going to read it because the author needed her/his thesaurus to write it.

How do we find out about you and your books?
I’m all over the place. Just use any search engine and type in Falling Roses or Rosemarie Piemonte. I also have a free newsletter called You Hear it First! which comes out monthly. Readers can find out everything that I’m doing as soon as I do.

How may readers contact you?
My e-mail address is rosemariepiemonte@yahoo.com.

Which do you prefer hot showers or bubble baths?
Bubble baths with a hot man or a good book will do if the man isn’t around.

Do you have a favorite comment or question from a reader?
When I was doing an authorfest last year a 13 yr. old girl came up to me and asked me for my autograph. I was so shocked, flattered, and excited. I think I almost fell off my chair. She asked what Falling Roses was about and I told her. She said that she’d be back. She came back with her grandmother and her grandmother said that out of all the books that were being sold at the fest, she wanted to purchase mine and so she did. I will always remember her name. It was Randi.

For Fun: What is your favorite food?
Pizza with mushrooms on it.

Your favorite movie?
Independence Day.

Besides, this website, are there any other sites you have that you would like to share? www.falling-roses.com
