Today we have the pleasure of speaking with
Eliza Gayle. Hello
Eliza and welcome to Fallen Angel Reviews.
It's my pleasure to be here, thank you for having me.
Eliza, I love your slogan on your website, Erotic Romance...All tied up. You have quite a few sizzling reads.
Why thank you. Those hot reads are a lot of fun to write.
Of all your works, which do you consider your greatest book?
Ooh, that is such a difficult question. I think , or at least I hope, that my writing gets better with each book. But if I have to choose a favorite it would be Taken By Tarot. It's the first book where I combined two of my favorite things Faeries and Tarot. I really do have a bit of an obsession when it comes to all things Fey. lol
Who do you think are your greatest and strongest characters?
Garon and Kian. They first appeared in Taken By Tarot and I fell so in love with my secondary character Kian that I had to write a prequel to TBT so we could delve more into their relationship. I mean who doesn't love a blue dragon, right? That story is Dragon's Fate and is included in the Phaze Fantasies III anthology.
Why not tell us a bit about your latest release?
Ooh Dirty Deeds comes out October 1st and combines the paranormal and BDSM even more than my previous titles. Melody is a newly created Demon that is given five days to collect five souls or else. It's a very HOT book.
What does the future have for
Eliza in upcoming works?
Lots of new stuff coming soon. In 2008 I will be part of the Vampire Oracle series at Cobblestone Press. I am so excited by the series I just can’t tell you. I will be writing for the card Awaken. Already I have been getting some great feedback that I have decided to write vampires.
I'm currently writing a new urban fantasy faerie story for Tease publishing entitled A Warrior's Choice. This will be my first full length novel.
Can you describe yourself in three sentences for our readers?
Eek the hard question. Hopefully when readers chat with me they find me straightforward, consistent and just a tad bit kooky. There three words instead of three sentences. lol
How long did it take to find the right publisher for your works?
I was extremely lucky. I began subbing my work in September 06 and sold to Phaze the first week of November. Sometimes it’s not always that easy.
Have you ever be asked to review a book?
Nope. I've been asked to critique for an unpublished work but never review a published novel.
You write for a number of publishers, do you find it hard to decide where to send a work-in-progress? Do you have a certain tone that you like to keep at certain publishers?
Honestly deciding which Publisher is right for each story that I write is a huge challenge for me. And yes sometimes a certain type or tone of story might fit better with one over another. It's always a tough call.
How do you keep your ideas fresh and imaginative?
I read a variety of literature such as non fiction tarot or magick books for some inspiration, and pull a lot just from things I love such as faeries and dragons. Fresh ideas come from the strangest of places sometimes. For a Marine Corp reunion lovers story I am writing the inspiration came from an advertisement for a motorcycle my husband had. And of course being a former Marine gives me all kinds of material to work with.
What can the readers expect from your talented fingers in the coming year?
A demon, a cat shifter, a vampire, 4 male witches (2 sets of twins), an urban faerie, and a space cowgirl.
Do you ever make New Year’s Resolutions or just brush that thought aside?
Yes, I make em and I break em. lol
Do you have a favorite pair of shoes that you cannot do without?
Well, of course, my leather high heeled flip flops from Nine West.
Which do you think is more romantic, a walk in the country or along the beach?
I grew up on the beach in Florida so definitely the beach.
Do you have something in your house or closet that you know you will never throw out?
I have this thread bare ninja gecko t-shirt my husband bought me in Japan that I can’t bear to part with. lol I can’t believe I told you that.
You are on a picnic, which do you go for first, hot dog or hamburgers?
Hamburgers for certain.
Do you have a website other than
http://www.elizagayle.com that you would like to share with your readers? Perhaps a blog or group? Myspace?
My myspace and my local promo group The Midnight Muses.
Thank you so much for sharing time with us today,
Eliza. It has been delight and I wish you the best with your writing.
Thanks again for having me it was my pleasure.
