Cherie Amour Interview
Good morning Cherie, and welcome to Fallen Angel Reviews. We would love to learn more about Cherie Amour, a talented author who writes from her heart and soul. I love the sound of your name, it sounds like it is filled with love.
Hi Linda,it’s great to be here. Thank you.
I notice that most of your covers are done by Jinger Heaston. She is a great artist. I love her work.
Yes, she is awesome. I’ve known her for several years and her talent is unprecedented. I’ve never seen another cover artist who can capture what I envisioned in the cover as Jinger does. Plus she is the funniest and most delightful lady I’ve ever met.
Now, let’s get to your latest release, why not give readers an insight to this latest creation.
Duel of Souls is the first book in my fantasy erotic ménage romance series Unworldly Sexual Encounters.
It involves a demon soul collector Belinda and her partner in crime and best friend/lover, Sebastian, who has been living in secret with her helping her in her quest for souls.
When she is sent on a mission to collect Christopher Columbus’ soul, a ruthless, evil demon Avgar accompanies her and Sebastian on this mission. He knows Belinda is keeping a big secret and will do anything to uncover it.
Belinda not only has to worry about Avgar on this mission, but when she meets Christopher Columbus’ first mate who is so enigmatic, alluring, and irresistibly handsome, she finds it difficult to concentrate on her mission.
Little does she know this mysterious man is really a guardian angel who is protecting Columbus. He’s been spying on her for centuries and is infatuated with her.
Soon things heat up and not only is her mission in jeopardy, but so is her and Sebastian’s monumental secret. They can be banished to the deepest, darkness level of Hell if it were ever revealed.
Excerpts and more info on it can be seen here.
All your characters, in your books, are wonderfully created and molded in a way they jump out at the reader. Does it take long to create any of your characters?
Thank you. :) At times, yes. Sometimes the secondary characters can give me headaches as I try to fit them into the plot and have them complement the hero and heroine. I’ll usually put the story aside then and work on something else and after some time I’ll come back to the story and the solution will hit me.
Do you have any future works planned that you can discuss with us today?
Well, I just signed a contract with Amira Press for my medieval historical erotic romance Memories Forgotten. My heroine in the story is a lot more innocent than any of my other heroines have been, so the hero has to take things slower to win her heart.
Here’s a blurb on it:
He wanted to fall deeper into sleep, into the darkness, but a siren’s voice draws him out of unconsciousness. Her beauty enamors him. He longs to touch her, kiss her, make love to her.
When Geva meets a mysterious man in the woods, the sexual attraction’s intense. She is frightened yet enchanted by him. Soon they find it difficult to keep their hands off one another.
But two obstacles keep them apart. One’s an abhorrent mystery of his past. The other’s their social standings .He’s a wealthy nobleman; she’s a poor serf’s daughter. They were never meant to be together. Society forbids it. Will their love conquer all or will it be extinguished before it’s fully ignited?
I’m also working on the second story in my Unworldly Sexual Encounters series “A Queen’s Enchantment” and another fantasy, ménage story Thelema—a world of desires and offerings. This is coming along quite nicely at the moment. I love where it’s leading. The sexual friction between the heroine and the heroes is the most intense I’ve ever written.
What motivates you to write?
My imagination. It is free with no boundaries and lures my creativity to follow it. And when they come together, a character is born in my mind, the first catalyst in motivating me to create a story. Then comes the secondary characters and the plot.
Do you have any bad writing habits?
I drink too much coffee and tea to keep my mind alert while writing. And I find it difficult to leave a story when the muse is buzzing loud in my head and will work all night, forsaking sleep if I have to, so I don’t lose that creative spur.
Were there any disappointing moments after the publication of your books?
No, not really.
What does your writing space look like?
It’s mobile. I work on my laptop and alternate from living room, to bedroom, sometimes kitchen table, and even the park. And to block out distractions, I’ll use earphones and blast music.
Which comes first, the story, the characters or the setting?
Definitely the main character or one of the main characters and then the story and other characters are developed around this character.
If you could have just one wish, what would it be?
Health, happiness, and love always. Does that count for three?
Why not give readers your website, Myspace, Facebook, so everyone can link to your great books.
Sure, I’d be delighted to.
Website,
MySpace,
Facebook
I had a Twitter page, but found it too difficult to maintain with my crazy schedule.
Have you ever had an embarrassing moment you will never forget?
Oh, so many . But there is one my friends and my husband keep reminding me about every once and awhile. It happened eons ago, right before I started dating my husband. I had just broken up with a womanizing ex-boyfriend and to help me get over the hurtful breakup, my friends forced me to go out with them to see a rock band we knew play at a club downtown.
Of course I didn’t eat beforehand and didn’t realize how much I drank and mixed. As per my friends’ recollection, because I remember only bits and pieces of that night, I apparently argued with the lead singer of the band that he could not sing. It was a pretty dark time in my life and I guess I used him as a venue to release my anger.
So he challenged me to take over the mic and sing, which I almost did, but my friends saved me, or rather saved the audience from the nightmare of hearing me sing. I’m extremely tone deaf.:)
But I did manage to embarrass myself just the same when the horrible mix of hard liquor I ingested came up with a vengeance on the dance floor, in the girl’s bathroom, and then in the very clean and proper interior of my good friend’s car.
Even though I will forever be cringing at those vague but extremely embarrassing memories, it was the beginning of something great in my life. It’s the reason my husband and I started dating.
At work the next day, through my other friend’s detailed description of my comedic adventure, he started talking to me. We had been co-workers for a couple of years already, but were both too shy and never talked to each other, other than to say hi and bye.
That day, we realized we had a lot in common and before we knew it, we started hanging out, then started dating, fell in love, later got engaged, then married.
If you were to write the number one best selling cookbook, what would be the title?
A Taste of Heaven – it’ll feature all sorts of heavenly chocolate desserts.:)
Could you describe for us the perfect honeymoon?
An isolated island, champagne, dessert, whipped cream, sunshine, cool breeze, and miles of white sand perfect for long, romantic walks.
Cherie, I am glad that we were able to share some time with you today. We look forward to reading more of your great works.
Thanks so much for interviewing me, Linda. It was my pleasure. I’ll keep busy writing and hope readers will enjoy reading more of my stories.
