Jeanie Johnson and Jayha Leigh Interview

Fallen Angel Reviews would like to welcome authors Jeanie Johnson and Jayha Leigh. Thank you for joining us ladies.

Jeanie and Jayha ascend to the stage like rock stars…with smoke and blazing guitar rifts and a massive crowd waving lighters back and forth as they chant their names.

Jeanie taps Jayha on the shoulder: "Hey, you're doing the megalomaniac thing again."

Jayha simply nods. "Yep, and it feels so good, now shh so I can bask in the glory."

To start, will you please tell us a little bit about your current projects?
Jayha: WORLD DOMINATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOO HOO! They all rock!

Jeanie: Excuse me, Momma hasn't had her sweet iced tea this morning so her megalomania is acting up.

[Jeanie hands Jayha a 32 ounce iced tea to distract her and responds to FAR question].

Besides the pending release of the next stories in the Wild, Wild series (WW: To the MF'ing Death: Xiloxoch) and the next book in the Otherworldly series (the twins), we're working on a little bit of everything. Writing several books at once we never know which story is going to be all pushy and demand to be finished first.

Tell your fans something about you they would never guess.
Jeanie aspires to have a "secret lab" and because Jayha wants a working light saber, an invisible jet like Wonder Woman, and a ride like Batman so she's really considering making that happen.

What's the best part of your literary collaboration?
The best part is writing with a partner who is as committed as you are. For example, it's not simply being committed to being successful, but being committed to our characters, the integrity of our prose, and to the time, resources and expectations of our readers. There is never a time when we don't strive to provide the best literary adventure possible for our readers…even if that means starting a story over even when you're 40K words in. It's important to remember that your readers are your number one asset and you have to treat them right.

Jayha, when you're not plotting to take over the world, and Jeanie when you're not plotting to get your secret lab, what do you do in your spare moments?
Jayha: Jeanie's always trying to finagle a scenario in which I'd give her the green light to go on a shanking spree. I'm usually in the corner buffing my halo.

Jeanie: [coughs…which sounds suspiciously like the word Bullsh*t].

Eating, reading, movies…the usual. Oh yes, and Momma likes to start trouble all the time. LOL.

How has being published changed your life, if at all?
Well it's made the world a whole lot smaller. We have people that read our stories from all around the world and it's exciting to get an email from someone who loves the characters/stories/worlds that we've created.
We've also made many close friends whom would break us out of foreign prison, hook us up with a pastry chef, and do an on-the-fly beta read at four a.m. When we first started out there was a small circle of readers and with time and by word of mouth, that circle has expanded tenfold.

You're a superheroine…describe your look, your outfit, your powers and tell us your name?
Jayha: Serena Williams body, Queen Latifah swagger; powers like Storm and Rogue from X-men. I'm fighting crime in the tiniest fking thing I can find (in Carolina blue) being that I'm all hot. My primary power would be F*cking people's ish up for asking me to work overtime. I'd call myself: I Don't Give a Da*n What Happens but I Clock Out at 6:30 am Woman.

Jeanie: Body like Queen Latifah, Angie Stone swagger, powers like Hiro from HEROES. I'm fighting crime in a hoodie, some board shorts and some high top leather sparkly Chuck Taylors. My primary power would be TIME TRAVEL. I'd call myself: Azz Kicker #1.

What individuals/characters from any book(s) most intrigue you?
Jayha: Ruth (from the Book of Ruth) because she was the original "Ride or Die" Chick; Vashti (from the Book of Esther) because it took courage to say "no" and mean it despite the ramifications; Judith (from the Book of Judith) because that chick knew how to plan a siege; Thing 1 and Thing 2 from The Cat in the Hat because I really need to know how they refrained from b*tchslapping the cat.

Jeanie: Ace Ventura - Pet Detective, I believe I've almost perfected the art of parallel parking just like him. Austin Powers - Man of Mystery, because his middle name is DANGER. And last but not the least whatsoever Andromeda. She was an Amazon who served Amazon Queen Andromache. Her name means, "Ruler of Men." I mean the meaning of her name says it all right? Oh and I'd like to give a shout out to Dr. Frankenstein…oh to work in his not-so-secret Lab. [sigh] Jeanie stares dreamily out the window.

Where do you hope to take your writing in the future?
The stage, the big screen, the Kodak Theater in Hollywood to pick up our statues for best film. Also, World Domination has been bandied around a few times. LOL.

How many hours a day do you spend procrastinating about writing?
As many as we can.

Do you have anything else in the works at this time?
I'm still waiting for my triplet brothers and Momma's wanting some Grand-Babies and there's still that World Domination thing on the side.

Would you like to add anything?
Yes, Jayha would like to add that she still has no private jet.

Jeanie would like to add I'm still waiting for that call Quentin Tarantino, Steven Spielberg, The Academy…there's so many things and so little time.

Thank you for taking time to speak with me today. Readers can check out Jeanie and Jayha's website at: http://jeanieandjayha.com/
