Nya Rayne Interview

Today I have the pleasure of speaking with author Nya Rayne. Thanks for being here today Nya, welcome to FAR!
Hi, and thanks for having me. It's so good to be here talking to all of you!!

To start, can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Well, I reside in North Carolina with her rambunctious two year-old German shepherd. I have been in love with romantic fiction since I picked up my first copy of V.C. Andrews at the age of 11. I also hold two degrees: Business Marketing and Psychology. I'm also an advocate for reading and writing. When I'm not writing or working my way through a novel by one of my favorite novelists, I can be found rescuing dogs and volunteering at my local SPCA or ASPCA.

Please feel free to follow my blog or facebook me. I'm always looking for new friends.

Please tell readers a little bit about your current release, Storm's Fury.
Storm's Fury is the first of my Anubi Brothers Series. It's the story of Stormy, a feisty spit-fire who refuses to be tied down, and Fury, and ancient warrior who's so blinded by vengeance, he doesn't think he has time for mates and especially not a loose lipped woman who challenges him at every turn.

They're both tormented by their pasts, but when fate throws them together, they'll either have to find a way to get along or in the end lose both their lives.

Is there a message in your story that you want readers to grasp?
This story is about trusting your heart to someone else. If there is anything my readers can take away from it, it would be that no matter how bad things get, there is always the possibility that something better is just around the corner. You just have to keep believing.

What would you like to accomplish with your writing career?
I would like to one day get to the point where I can quit my day job…lol. But more importantly, I want to become a household name. Not in a rich way, but as an author whose writings touch people in unexpected ways. I want people to send me images of tattoos related to the characters I write about. Until then, I just want to keep writing.

Can you tell us a little about your other upcoming works?
I actually have three other stories in the wings. One is a futuristic romance, titled He Belongs to Me. It's based in a world dominated by women where men are bought and sold as if they were shoes. That one should be coming out later this year via Musa Publishing. My other two works are also paranormal romances. Both haven't been contracted yet, so I can't really say anything about them.

What is the best advice that anyone ever gave you?
The best advice I ever got from any one is, "Shut up and listen." Need I say more?

While writing, how does the story develop for you? Do you go from start to finish or create scenes as they come to you?
When I begin a story, I usually begin with a very loose idea of the characters and where I want them to go. After about the third chapter, the story always takes on a life of its own. I definitely go from start to finish. I'm awed by writers who can write by scenes and then put it altogether to make one story. I could never do that. I swear I would be left with a steaming pile of crap…lol.

Do you set a demanding schedule for yourself?
Yes, I do. I've tried to write leisurely but it doesn't work for me. I have to give myself a certain amount of time to have a first draft done. For instance, He Belongs to Me was written in 45 day-the first draft. Storm's Fury's first draft took 60 days, I think. But yeah, without a date/time I wouldn't get anything completed.

What do you still struggle with as an author?
Oh gosh. What don't I have problems with…lol. Well, let's see… My editor still finds herself deleting my favorite 'useless' words: actually, really, just, even, perhaps and so on so forth. Oh and sometimes, I over describe stuff. But that's a secret…shssshsss.

We all have one, so tell us yours. What is your favorite comfort food?
OMG!! Baked Macaroni and Cheese, but only if my mom makes it.

Describe yourself in 5 words.
Caring, Antsy, Tactless at times, Humorous, Youthful in mind, body and spirit. (lol) that's more than five words.

Do you have a website or blog where readers can learn more about you and your works?
Sure do. They can check out my blog or Facebook me. Just search Nya Rayne.

Is there anything else you would like to add today?
Not really. I just want to thank FAR for inviting me on and for giving me this time to promote Storm's Fury. It was definitely a labor of love for me and I hope you all go out and grab a copy. It's the beginning of a very sensual ride.

Thanks again and I hope to see you all when my next novel comes out.
