Mountain High

Who knew coming home would feel so right? Tyler Morgan left Elizabethtowne twenty years ago intending to see the world and make her mark. She has become a successful businesswoman, but in matters of the heart something is lacking. After her last disaster of a relationship, Tyler decides to come home, and finds that what might have been lacking is Chris Shuler.

Chris has been waiting for his brown-eyed girl to come home. He missed his chance with her years ago and has no intention of letting her slip through his fingers again. Tyler has come home to open a new business, but Chris hopes that he can also convince her to open her heart. Romance may have to take a backseat when it appears increasing accidents indicate a threat against Tyler.

Mountain High is romantic suspense that brings together two mature individuals and offers them a chance to discover the passion between them. The beginning of the story begins slowly, as if preparing the reader for small town life. Yet just as the events around Tyler increase in frequency, so does the pace of the plot. The predominant focus of the story is the budding relationship between Tyler and Chris. Their romance is not clear sailing and some of the obstacles they must overcome are reminiscent of every relationship in life. I enjoyed the age aspect of their romance. Both of these characters are well past the age of consent, but still display a raw sexuality when together. The author did not minimize the abilities of either character as she brought them together. Instead, together they formed an enviable whole. The suspense within the story, while somewhat predicable, was still enjoyable when combined with the romance surrounding the main characters, and ensures that all in all Mountain High will entertain readers.
