Your Desire

Your Desire opens with a hint of magic and by the time you are done reading, the authors and characters will have you believing in magic as well.

The Artist and the Director by Francis Drake

Derica Meadows is on the fast track to success. While preparing for an upcoming business party, a shimmering dress beckons to her from a window display. Going with instinct instead of business sense, Derica decides to wear the dress. What follows starts with a case of mistaken identity and leads to a passion unlike any she has ever known. Yet will this newfound relationship last in the light of day and could it cost the very thing she has worked so hard to attain?

The Artist and the Director is an erotic romantic tale that will be read again by this reviewer. The two main characters are sensual, strong and trying to decide if they can make room in their lives for each other. Mr. Drake has done an excellent job illustrating both characters’ conflicted emotions. Whereas the passion between them runs high, and results in some amazing scenes, the underlying knowledge that their worlds are very different will have readers wondering if these two well-matched lovers can find a resolution. Their acceptance of each other, while trying to decide where the future is going, is refreshing to read. Within the confines of this short story, the author still managed to pleasantly surprise me with how he concluded this tale.

Awards Night by Dee S. Knight

Allison Hayes is dreading her class reunion. She feels as if her class and life has passed her by. Knowing there is no way she can slight the reunion, she buys a dress that even she has qualms about. When she leaves the reunion in sheer embarrassment over her dress, her evening gets worse when she finds there has been an accident near her house. As a trained nurse, she sets out, ugly dress and all, to help. Her meeting with Frank and the subsequent results of the evening has Allison rethinking her opinion on the dress and her life.

Dee S. Knight has delivered a poignant, rich love story that will tug at your heartstrings while still managing to heat the pages of this tale. Allison is not your quintessential romance heroine. She is a size twelve woman that walks with a limp, and is perhaps one of the best female characters this reader has read in a long time. I appreciate that Ms. Knight has shown that beauty is more than just your dress size. The interaction between Frank and Allison is balanced between the friendship that builds between them and the sexual heat that is brewing. The conclusion of this tale is a testament to the life Allison has led and shows friendship and love at its best. You can’t help coming away from this story happier than when you started it.

Your Desire seamlessly captures the magic of the beginning, and carries it though to the end of the book. For two seemingly different types of stories, Francis Drake and Dee S. Knight have created two tales that combine to create a book few will want to miss out on. This reader hopes that the hint that there are more stories along this venue will quickly become a reality.
