Further Than Passion

Kate Duncan’s mother was married at a very young age. She became restless and unhappy in her marriage to the Earl of Doncaster, so she left him and Kate for her lover in Italy. Kate’s parents died when she was eight and she believed that she had no money, no dowry, or anyone to protect her, so her stepmother took her in and she became her stepsister’s companion.

They were visiting Marcus, the Earl of Stamford’s estate when Melanie informs Kate of her plans to give Marcus a love potion so he would fall madly in love with her. Kate believes the potion is fake and drinks it herself. She wanders the halls of the estate and ends up in the Earl’s suite watching him in a very compromising position with another woman. Marcus is so taken by the woman that appeared in his room last night, he goes looking for her, only to find that she is a companion of his houseguests. He decides he must have Kate in his bed, only to find that she is innocent of the touch of a man. Believing this might be her only chance to discover what it is like to be with a man, she accepts Marcus’s proposition. Their time spent together each night is electric. Marcus will not give into his heart’s yearnings because he fears he is not good enough for Kate. Will he be there for Kate when she faces her stepmother’s wrath and is placed in grave danger?

I have read all of Cheryl Holt’s books and I have to say this is the most exciting story of all. It does not take long for Kate to realize that she has been deceived by part of her family and her love for Marcus is put to the ultimate test when she needs him the most. The story would not be complete without the kindness and unconditional love of her sister Selena and her stepbrother, Christopher. Further Than Passion is such an intriguing and spellbinding love story, I give it 5 angels.
