Karn Borden is a PI for her father’s firm, Borden and Company, investigating industrial fraud. She is working on a case trying to catch an industrial spy who is stealing bid information and designs at Berg and Son. Being a life long friend of the Bergs, Karn is more than determined to find the culprit responsible.

Karn and James Berg Jr. were childhood friends, though he was six years older than her. As they grew older, their friendship changed. She falls deeply in love with him, but he keeps his distance, until the night before she goes off to college. She gives herself to him on that night and does not realize he must give her time to see if her feelings for him are not just a young girl’s infatuation. She is crushed when he leaves town to take his place in his father’s company and doesn’t even say goodbye to her.

Well, here Karn is six years later as James passes by her and doesn’t recognize her since she is wearing a disguise. James is finally told by his father and Karn what is going on with the company. They spend the next few weeks making up for the six years they have lost. James and Karn have a dangerous surprise in store for them when they discover who the spy is.

HOT BYTES is full of surprises as Karn tries to discover who is stealing the company’s secrets. James tries so hard to protect Karn and his feelings for her that he almost loses her a second time. But, Karn has an equally hard time not knowing if he is acting or telling her the truth during his role-playing. LOIS BONDE wrote such an exciting and passionate story, I give her 5 angels.
