Lady in Waiting

Genevieve “Jenny” Penny loves to shop and wear the finest clothes and accessories she can buy. The trouble is she keeps putting off paying her charged bills and finds herself in a spot of trouble. She has created a peppermint facial cream, only to discover that the ladies who are buying it are using it as a tingle cream in the most intimate places on the body. Jenny cannot let the ton know that she is the one who makes this cream since she is of such low position in society. Jenny is forced to sell her cream to society under the name of Lady Eros so she can earn the money to pay off her credit debts. Added to this is Jenny’s other position.

Jenny is a lady’s maid to Lady Meredith. Modeling a dress for Meredith so she can decide which dress to wear to the ball tonight, Jenny is surprised to be introduced as Lady Genevieve to a Scottsman, Callum Campbell, Sixth Viscount of Argyll. Lady Meredith’s aunts, Lady Viola and Lady Letitia notice that Callum is quite taken with Jenny. The aunts talk Jenny into portraying a Lady of the ton and attending the ball with Meredith for the evening, only to be caught up in their matchmaking plans.

Callum has his own reasons for being in Bath and they don’t include falling in love. Callum may enjoy Jenny’s company, and her body even more, but he will never marry her and does not want to continue the family bloodline. What’s a woman to do?

Lady in Waiting is an exciting story of love and deception with twists and turns on every page. It proves to be very sexy to see a man of Callum’s stature in life to always pay tribute to his heritage by wearing a kilt. Everywhere Jenny turns her life is tumbling down in front of her while Viola, Letitia, and Meredith try to help her make things right. Jenny must face her debts and deceit before she can have the life she deserves, while Callum has to come to grips of being abandoned by his mother so he can live a fulfilled life. I loved reading this marvelous story Kathyrn Caskie wrote so much, that I give her five Angels.
