Syntia Martel is on assignment in Natchez when she meets Dallas Allgate, a man who stirs her blood and her senses, ; a man she knows has secrets he doesn't want her to know about. But when there is a hit and run in front of his restaurant and she has a photo of the driver, Tia decides to use it to get to Dallas. Little does she know that another man, Jermyn St. James, will help her get closer to Dallas than Tia ever thought she would be. Tia isn't sure she believes what she sees happening around her, things like vampires don't exist, or so she tells herself, until something happens that brings the truth out in the open.

Dallas Allgate knows he has to do something about Tia before she learns that he's a vampire and she tells someone else. There is something about her that makes his compulsion not work. When Dallas finds out that St. James has come for revenge and will use any means possible, Dallas wants Tia out of town, but she won’t go. Things start heating up when Dallas also gets a visit from Drago, the enforcer. It seems Dallas's life has gone out of control and Tia is at the heart of it. Dallas doesn't understand why he wants to protect her, she's only a human, but something is making him not only want her safe but to also trust her like no other.

Ms. Roycraft's novel is one that will keep readers on the edge of their seats waiting to see what will happen next. It’s action packed with the scenes flowing into the next without abrupt stops or starts. The secondary characters are as three dimensional as Tia and Dallas and lend to the story a realism that will hold the readers spell bound. This book is highly entertaining and I recommend it to anyone.
