Love In The<br>Afternoon

Hailey and Lachlan are actors in “Love in the Afternoon,” a soap opera (oops, daytime drama!) on television. They’ve been married for five years, and are still deeply in love with each other. But Lachlan must go out of town for a personal appearance with a former flame who is also an actress in the show. Hailey must fight the green demon of jealousy as her rival makes another bid for Lachlan’s affections.

This is a very short story (25 pages), almost a vignette or “day in the life” sort of story, about the lives of two actors on television. This little story tells us about love and trust. It’s very hard to make a marriage work when you are constantly exhausted from filming and, on your days off, at the beck and call of the fans. Moore eloquently describes these and other challenges that the hero and heroine face. The characters of Hailey and Lachlan are lively and realistic, and come across as nice, normal folks. The love scenes between the two are very explicit and sexy, and yet full of emotion. This story didn’t take very long to read, but it was humorous and touching, and I quite enjoyed it.
