The Enchantress

The second book in the Gwen Stevens' series, The Enchantress picks up right where Daughter of Darkness left off and takes off running. Gwen is on a leave of absence from her paranormal investigator job, but if anything the paranormal aspect of her life is stronger than ever. After all her ex-lover and best friends are vampires and her current lover Caleb and even Gwen herself are fairies. When Caleb leaves for work on the trail of a siren known as the Enchantress, it seems like a normal day for Gwen. A little time spent kicking back with her vamp buddies James and Cardock. But trouble is coming and it is about to hit hard. Within a matter of hours Gwen has contracted some mysterious illness and has begun to have bizarre dreams of men in robes at some sort of ceremony, and her ex-lover Pallo in his demon vamp form is taking her...literally. Suddenly Gwen finds herself torn between old lovers and new and on the search for answers to what! is happening to her. Nothing is quite what it seems and the danger is greater than any of them ever imagined. If Gwen does not find some answers soon it may cost her everything, including her own life!

I picked this book up expecting a good read. After all I have read several of Mandy Roth's books before, including the first in this series, and already know the quality of her storytelling ability. So it is no surprise that I was immediately swept into the story and quickly embroiled in Gwen's world. This story has many of the same characters introduced in the first book and it is wonderful to revisit these fascinating characters and watch them grow throughout the pages of this book. From page one this tale picks you up and sweeps you along on a rollercoaster ride filled with twists and turns and lots of surprises. Never assume you know where this story is going, just when you think you got it figured out something new enters the picture changing everything. So it is no surprise that I loved this book. After all it has everything, great characters, danger and mystery, gorgeous men galore and more hot sex than one girl could ever ask for. Add it all together for one g! reat read earning 5 angels and my recommendation for read of the month.
