Dice Angel

Jimmy Delaney is on top of the world. Well, except for the fact that his bar, Jimmy D's, has been broken into...again. Oh, and his accountant is missing, with all of his funds. His rebellious ex-wife is acting up again. And let's not forget the IRS agent who's after him for back taxes. Okay, so it's not shaping up to be the best week of his life. But, hey, this is Las Vegas. Fortunes are won and lost in the blink of an eye. Jimmy is determined to win the money needed to keep his life from going down the drain.

When Jimmy is at the end of his rope, he receives sound financial advice from Pete, a homeless man who stops by every once in a while at closing for a drink and a meal. Pete tells him to call the Dice Angel. While Jimmy doesn't believe in any of that supernatural stuff and he is personally acquainted with the ups and downs of gambling, he's willing to try anything to keep Jimmy D's from going under. Enter Amaris. She’s a professional psychic who uses her talents for profit. With the introduction of Amaris, Jimmy’s life takes some hefty twists and turns.

Dice Angel is fun ride through the win, lose, or draw world of Vegas. Jimmy D is witty and on the mark. His frustration at the thought of losing his family bar is palpable. Amaris is a treat. Her ‘three rules’ made me laugh out loud. His conversations with the ex are a constant threat to his sanity. Mr. Rouff has created a multi-layered character and surrounded him with a wisecracking, supportive cast of characters. Dice Angel is a book that can be read over and over, never losing its thrill.
