<i>Spirit of the Season: Have Mercy</i>

Once again Allyn Michaels has let her mouth override her common sense. This time she crossed a witch. A witch who cursed her to slowly go blind, and placed her in 'middle of nowhere' Ireland. She has a dual reason for being placed in that place at that time. Her job is to help a recalcitrant wizard realize his potential, and work through a past tragedy. Meanwhile, she needs to make it to Newgrange before Winter Solstice, so that she can stand in the healing water and, hopefully, the Fates will return her sight. This is her only chance, as the most powerful wizard who could help her is denying his fate.

Keane Brady is sure that the Fate's have sent Allyn here to test his vow. He's will not use his magic, no matter the cost. He can't, however, be heartless enough to leave her stranded with failing eyesight. He takes her with him. He is not so supportive of Allyn when he discovers that she has been sent by the Fates, to help him resolve his issues with his powers. With his past, there is no resolving, he will not use his powers and those around him will be safe. But what if he could use his magic for good? Is that a risk that he's willing to take?

Ms. Carrington's Have Mercy, from the Spirit of the Season Anthology is a touching story of pain, healing and love. Keane has become afraid of the damage that his wizardry has caused. He is a handsome, serious man. Allyn is his polar opposite. She's a carefree, loose tongued woman who lives life to the fullest. Her panic at losing her eyesight and Keane's subsequent support make for a very enjoyable read. This story is in exactly the right caliber for the holiday season. Ms. Carrington has once again gifted us with one of her special tales of love and wonderment.
