Uber Gothic: Industrial Sorcery
Sygni is a corporate level sorceress; a magus to be exact. She is tough, powerful and brooks no argument professionally or privately. She is called in to help a friend in need. Morwyn believes that she has a ghost lurking around in her authentic Scottish castle. Sygni is not so sure that this is a haunting. This sounds more like a burglar who can’t find what he’s looking for. Sygni, a consummate huntress, sets ‘no exit’ wards on all the windows and doors, and cloaks herself in a ‘don’t notice me’ spell; now it’s just a matter of waiting to see which of her lures hooks something.
What she catches is a dark, buff vampire bent on stealing a powerful book from Morwyn’s publicized archives. Tall, dark and fanged Galen has Sygni burning hotter than lava, before he’s even touched her. Her attempt to get him to confess who’s pulling his strings comes to naught. Galen states that he’s under a death threat, if he so much as hints at the name his life force will extinguish. Helping Galen out from under the wicked sorcerers spell costs Sygni more than she’d ever have imagined. This complication leads into more and more difficulties for the frustrated sorceress.
Uber Gothic: Industrial Sorcery is a dark, fantasy romance. Filled with; magic, demons, witches and warlocks, vampires, werewolves and everything else that goes bump in the night, this work is definitely a keeper. Sygni is an unusual and unique character. She is a powerful witch, in this alternative parallel world. She’s also a strong woman. She takes no guff, and gives back worse than she gets. Galen is a sexy drool-worthy vampire used to getting what he wants, especially from women. These two hard heads are matched in temperament, powers and passions. Be prepared to pant whenever these two are together. Ms. Hawke has shown than she can pen powerful, erotic love scenes as well as a compellingly dark story. In this story the bad guys are really bad, but the good guys are worse. Sygni has no problem destroying a business (with no innocent casualties) that tries to stiff her out of her fee. I am enthralled by this wise-cracking, ball-busting sorceress and hope that this is only the first installment in the life of this compelling character.
