Jaded Prey

Naomi has been having nightmares and strange things have been happening during the day. The worst part is that she has been hearing a voice, that threatens to do things to her, that is repulsive and scary. She’s starting to wonder if she’s going insane, because the voice is getting stronger, and she is starting to have bruises in some very unusual places. When she meets Merco, he’s more than she ever dreamed of being with. Her world starts to get even stranger when she finds out he’s actually a very powerful witch, and the voice inside her is a demon that definitely doesn’t want Merco around.

Merco is used to being worshiped and making little or no effort to pick up women. If he wants to, he can conjure up the perfect woman and make her the kind that will be willing to do whatever he wants. But even if he conjures up another Naomi, they won’t have the fire and independence that he’s finding out he needs. The problem is Naomi is just a mortal, so there’s no way he could care about her, right?

Naomi comes across as scared but strong, and I couldn’t imagine how I would react in her place. Merco is an insensitive jerk at first, but slowly learns that were Naomi is concerned; he can’t help but care about her. There are some multiple partners in this story, and the sex is sizzling. I really enjoyed the story line and the way Naomi was portrayed, and how Merco seemed to grow up a little bit as the story progressed. I’m sure I will be on the look out for more of this series and Lorie O’Clare’s excellent writing.
