Saving Emma
Emma’s life is a mess and bursting with bad situations. Her husband was into organized crime and was murdered. Now she is trying to raise her 4 year old daughter alone, and the mob is after her. She is moving from town to town, changing her appearance and doing her best to elude them when she literally runs into an undercover cop named Gary. He falls head over heels for Emma and her daughter Sally. As the seriousness of Emma’s situation becomes clearer, he vows to protect them no matter what happens.
Gary ignores her protests regarding placing him in danger, and welcomes Emma and Sally into his large and protective family. He also rolls over her objections to moving in with him, and soon coaxes her into relying on him. Emma has been strong for so long; can she learn to lean on someone else?
The only problem is - Emma doesn’t know what Gary does for a living - and she’s starting to ask questions. Can he save Emma from the murderers hunting her?
Saving Emma is a well-written, humorous, story about trust and starting over again. I enjoyed the fast-paced dialogue and the funny quirks of many of the characters. I found Emma to be a bit naive regarding her circumstances and Gary to be a tad chauvinistic in his attitude toward women in general. Gary’s Mama should have drilled that out of him, in my opinion - Mama is the woman for that job and he is surprised to find out that Emma (under it all) is just like her!
