She Drives Me Crazy
Emma Jean Frasier is returning to the one place she hoped never to see again Joyful, Georgia. She left town ten years ago after being found naked with Johnny Walker, the town’s baddest bad boy, by most of the senior class on prom night. Thanks to a couple of ex co-workers and their embezzlement of her employer’s assets and the retirement funds of the employees, the girl who was the richest in the class of 1995 is now flat broke. She plans on returning to the house that her beloved grandmother willed to her while she gets herself together and searches for another job. What she doesn’t plan on is falling flat on her tush in front of the one man she thought never to see again; the man to whom she gave her innocence and her heart ten years ago, Johnny Walker.
Bad boy turned attorney Johnny Walker is as curious as the rest of Joyful about the new billboard on the interstate which is advertising a strip club coming to town. The thought of a strip club in the sleepy Georgia town is absolutely ludicrous. Almost as ludicrous as the rumors that recently returned Emma Frasier is not only the owner of the club but the model on the billboard. Johnny knows that Emma will stir things up with her return; the least of which will be his memories, his libido and his emotions.
I know this is only a March release but I think I’ve already found my favorite book of the year in Leslie Kelly’s She Drives Me Crazy. This is such an outstanding book on so many levels that it’s hard to mention them without giving away one of the many surprises found between the pages. Ms. Kelly has perfectly described the rumor mill, the high school clichés that never seem to go away and the gossipy beauty salon that are SO typical of a small Southern town. The relationship between Emma’s best friend and her husband is something with which I believe every married woman can identify, and the romance between Emma and Johnny is pure perfection.
If you don’t read another book this March I highly, HIGHLY recommend that you read this one, because with every book she pens Leslie Kelly gets better and better.
