Death by Inferior Design
Erin Gilbert, a home designer, has just accepted an unbelievable offer with her less-than-dearest competitor, Steve Sullivan. She is to decorate one room of a house in Crestview, Colorado, while Steve will decorate one room in another house across the street
They both start on the rooms, when they find out everything is not what it seems, marriages that need major overhauls, secrets which should stay secrets. As Erin removes a paneled wall, she discovers a cubby hole, she reaches in, and pulls out a picture of herself when she was a child. Are one of these not so normal people her birth parents? Erin had promised her adoptive mother, as a death bed promise, she would never try to find out who her birth parents were. Erin wants to honor that promise but also wants to find out how the homeowner has a picture of herself.
As the weekend moves on, bodies are popping up, who is killing them and why? Erin wants to leave the project, but she also wants to find out more about these people, however she is also afraid she might be the next victim.
Will Erin finish the room before any more people are murdered? Will she be the next victim? Will she break her promise to her adoptive mother? Will she and Steve finally bury the hatchet? The answers to these are in the book.
This was a wonderful, well-written, book. There was mystery, suspense, some romance. All in all this book had all the elements of an outstanding mystery book. The reader will find themselves getting caught up in the story, you start forgettng you are reading a fiction book. This reviewer wanted to jump in the book and protect Erin from all the dangers which were around her.
If you are a die-hard mystery buff, you will want to make sure this book is in your To Be Read pile, right at the top. I highly recommend this book.
